Hey everyone! Something that has sort of been an experiment of sorts for a while is now finally being released to the public - CU's Beta 1.7.3 server! "Do what? A beta 1.7.3 server? Y tho" - You see, for so long, I have seen many of these Beta 1.7.3 servers pop up for a bit, then a month or two later, they are gone - never to be seen again. I discussed this on a recent livestream, but allow me to reiterate some of my thinking here. What I think happens is that when someone creates one of these servers, it is all done out of sheer nostalgic feelings - feelings that don't last. They whip something up quickly on their home PC, post an IP on MinecraftForums or PMC, and play for a bit until they get bored or tired of doing it, and then bam. That's the end of it. I have opted to bring this server to life to counter that, and to give those seeking some nostalgia a place to go. As time goes forward, and as our main server expands and grows, this server will continue to be left as it is for those times when someone just wants to play old MC online. Even if that time is short, we will be here for that brief period. Enough banter, what's the server like? The server, being on an older MC version, is a fairly simple server. It is aimed to recreate the old days of MC survival in its purest form. There are some enhancements, however. ChestShop and an Economy system are in place to add just a little bit of spiff to the experience. In addition, there are several ranks on the server. Member, Advanced, and VIP. You can find out more about those ranks and the staff ranks here. How can I join? You can join the server by going into the launcher, setting your game version to old-beta 1.7.3, and connecting to mc.chaoticunited.net:25566 CU Launcher That's right folks! We have developed our own in-house cracked launcher. It is fully capable as a Minecraft launcher, but there are a couple things you should know. Premium authentication is not currently supported Using this launcher will clear your existing login data in the official launcher. Again - do not use this launcher if you are Premium. These are all things that we plan to fix for the official release. As the topic title suggests, this is an open beta test. There may be bugs and other issues. If you find any issues, report them to us immediately. You can grab the launcher here:

Either via interaction to the server console or files, or physical access to the server, or providing other elements that Chaotic United would be dead without. Respect them. They deserve it. These people truly earned their title. [Owner] - Reserved for Haloman30 and Alycat This rank is for the current owner of Chaotic United, Halo. Starting September 2014, Chaotic United was slowly restructured. As time went on, a solid foundation was laid for the new and improved CU. Despite attempts of DDoS attacks and further actions to try and halt this, Chaotic United has returned and continues to grow to this day. [Founder] - Reserved for Killerteddy1 This is the founder and creator of Chaotic United. Despite things he did to help kill CU, he still contributed to the legacy and neither ND nor CU would exist today without the work that he did.

This is the creative world that was used on CU from 1.7.10 up until its retirement in 1.10. This creative world was retained on CU from day one of the revival. Unlike the survival map, this was not falsely retained due to lack of experienced server administration, but because it didn't need a reset. Yet. It was eventually retired to allow for larger scale builds on the MC server, as there was no other means of doing it aside from an experimental 'OpenCreative' mode. This had the drawback of limited grief prevention and ultimately didn't work out well, and was scrapped. This map was retired when the server updated to 1.10 and was replaced with the upsized plotworld featuring 200x200 plots - nearly 3x as large. You cannot take this map, or any structures within it, and run it in your own server or someone else's. This is only for those who wants to continue their projects on it instead of having to start over in single player mode. Breaking this rule will result in your download privileges being permanently suspended and could result in your account being banned.Free -

This is the world that CU used for its survival gamemode in Minecraft 1.8 (2014-2015) In the early days of the CU revival, there was a rather...slow update process. The server began on MC 1.7.10, and this world continued to be used after the update to 1.8 - resulting in some areas of the map where new chunks were generated with the new world generator due to biome changes. It was not until the update to MC 1.10 that this world would at long last be retired in favor of a clean slate. You cannot take this map, or any structures within it, and run it in your own server or someone else's. This is the world from the ND survival server. This was aimed to have a much different focus from the previous MC server, as it was meant to be a core survival server. During the runtime of this server, CU merged with ND. Eventually, this server was closed, and the world was made available for download. The map used for the Nuclear District modded MC server, for use with the Horizons modpack. After issues and other happenings with the Trident modpack, the ND modded server was transitioned into the Horizons modpack. The server had a new focus on community building and being a less competitive, and more friendly/relaxed experience. When ND closed the modded server permanently, they made the world available for download. You cannot take this map, or any structures within it, and run it in your own server or someone else's. Hey everyone! Time for another announcement today! We have opened the CU Merch store for testing. Since we are dealing with people buying things with real money, we ask that if you find any bug of any sort, even if it seems super minute, report it to me immediately. Go check it out at http://chaoticunited.net/forums/store/! All purchases will help support CU's continued operation and server costs, as well as future features, gameservers, and more. Happy shopping!

Hey everyone! As mentioned in this topic, we have been working hard to relaunch CU once again. The general plan has been to put all future server features aside for this relaunch. Any new gamemodes, improvements, and so on would go into this relaunch of CU. With one main caveat: The existing CU server would receive minimal support in terms of bug fixes (except for critical ones), no new gamemodes, and so on. Many modes have been suggested. SkyWars, GrandTheftWool, TheRedCore, and so on. So, I want to get your guys' feedback. I want to present an alternative progress plan for this relaunch. There are currently two options: 1. We continue to stock all features for the Relaunch in order to create a perfectly polished, tested, and fleshed out experience. 2. The Relaunch is effectively cancelled, and the features planned for it will be worked on, developed, and made live as soon as they are available on the main server. "But wait, Mr. Halo! Are there any caveats to number 2? Because wow it sounds like the obvious choice!" Yes there are. Let's go over all the pros/cons of these two options. Option 1: Pros: Better ability to test, work on, and finish the server More flexibility for potentially "crippling" bugs to occur without risk to existing server data Better ability to create a fully polished and continuous server experience Cons: Main server will continue to not get as much focus as work is done for the relaunch Option 2: Pros: Main server will continue to get main focus New bugs will be fixed sooner rather than later Features will be available as soon as they are playable Cons: More server restarts due to broken/faulty configurations and plugins Extreme lack of polish and continuity across the server experience Potential risk to existing server data So, lets elaborate on a couple of these points. How is there any risk to server data at the hand of this development? To put as simply as possible: When we develop new server features, there is a large testing process, and typically not a large pool of testers. Some plugins that are added (such as 'hub items' for instance) that need to mess with player's inventory data will always create some level of risk of player's inventory data. What if it applies the specific hub items across the entire server, and people lose the items that are in specific slots? What if their entire inventory is lost upon an issue with a minigame? These are just a few examples - and these are just limited to player inventory data. These are risks that always have to be considered and we must always be extremely careful when developing new modes in realtime on the main server - this is partially why there has been a lack of gamemodes over the years - every time we try to implement it, it doesn't work properly, and we just toss it out in order to prevent server problems for the players we have. By keeping everything on a seperate relaunch server, these concerns are null and void. There is no data to preserve as its all reset anyways. "Okay then, so Mr. Halo, what's the point of this post if you're just going to make a case for the decision you've made?" The point is this: some of you guys may be content with the server as it is, and may not care that new features be developed all the time. You may not care about the occasional bug or two, as they are minor annoyances at most. You may prefer a more stable experience rather than new features being added the instant they're ready to go. Or, maybe you hate that idea. Maybe you'd rather have these features immediately and don't care about a risk to your inventories or random and potentially frequent server restarts. The point of this topic is for me to give you guys the chance to tell me. The point of this topic is for you guys to tell me what you think. If you really want the relaunch called off and the features to be developed on the main server, and you don't want to wait months for the server to be finished (still no set date, sorry folks). Maybe you're fine with it. I have no way of knowing, and I figured I should at the very least present the opportunity to let you guys give your feedback on the matter. If the majority of you would rather have things released as a bulk update (the relaunch), then we will do it as planned. If you prefer that these features be added as soon as possible, we can do that too. The choice is yours.

Technically there is something that can be lost, which is time and effort. An RPG mode that works as i describe would take as i said, months or even a year to develop. If something like that is launched and people just dont give a shit and only care about classic CU survival stuff then well, thats a years worth of work wasted down the drain. I have made polls before about it and usually it has been voted up so maybe

Minigames are something we plan to introduce a bit more when we relaunch on 1.12. A lot of work on the current server in terms of new gamemodes and features is generally going to be held off until that point as to give the relaunch as much substance as possible. This is the delimma we face here when trying to make an MC server active. You need to have players in order to keep new ones. So far this has been accomplished in what i consider to be a fairly weak fashion, by offering the same 3-4 modes since 2014. I'll be the first to admit that our current gamemode selection is beyond weak and is about as generic and boring as you can get. The real key to getting CU more popular imo is to have more unique gamemodes, and a perfect idea that's been sent my way numerous times is an RPG mode. I actually talked with AlexZeroHour about it and basically the great thing about an RPG mode is that, if executed properly, it can be a mode that is fun both on your own and with friends. This is key because, unlike basic survival MC, you can't just play a polished and superb RPG mode in SP. If one exists it should also be made to be difficult if not impossible to recreate on your own with a local server or wtv. The key is to make it where you can only find this experience on CU MC and not a single place else. That way, even if we dont have a ton of people on at first, people can still have a blast and then proceed to get their friends on, and then it just snowballs from there. Maybe they check out other modes, maybe they dont. The big roadblock with this RPG mode is the fact that you're spending weeks, months, maybe even a year or more on this single gamemode. It is a huge investment in time that can be so easily fucked up by either a shit story, buggy features, server crashes, and so on. This so far has been the big roadblock and wall to an RPG mode. If we were to do it right (and we actually fukin advertise) imo itd be almost guarunteed to get people on. May take a while but its almost guarunteed to happen eventually. The other roadblock is just having the hardware to run it. The current CU server even on an 8gb vps has struggled for a while with memory issues. We aren't old CU with a 24GB dedi for everything and then some, we have been squeezing by with an 8gb vps. That VPS also runs the TS3, WakaUnited, WakaElaztek, and Jinux discord bots. Granted all of those are relatively light in terms of using resources so its very negligible, but its something to keep in mind. This RPG mode would honestly need its own server more than likely, and (for now) we don't have the resources to obtain it. The only way we even have Brink of Chaos after all this time is michael being a champion and letting CU use the Elaztek dedicated server (which hosts some of Elaztek's gameservers and i believe the Gitlab as well). That being said, let me jump start this topic back up with a question, what do you guys think about an RPG mode? A lot of the feedback for it has been a good while in the past or has been from alycat. Or if you think RPG is either stupid or just too much of a risk/challenge to do, what are some other modes you feel would help keep players enticed to stick around? What do we give them to do to keep them online and coming back?

Hey, everyone! Today we did some upgrades to the CU Forums as well as over on Elaztek Studios' website. Both sites were upgraded to the new IP.Board 4.2 software, which brings with it a ton of awesome new features! We ourselves haven't even finished exploring the new features to be added, so there may or may not be a follow-up to this detailing more features that have been introduced. First off, Content Ratings are back! They have been absent ever since the Nuclear District forums were updated to IPB4, as the application was not updated at the time. Later, it was discovered to be finally updated - for the price of 30$ and a renewal every six months. So it was ignored. Then, IPB 4.2 was pushed out and lone behold - content ratings are now a built-in feature. All likes and dislikes on posts are counted as Upvote/Downvote ratings which sport a similar icon as it has in modern IPB. The other ratings were NOT built in but the functionality to add them was all there - hence why they have rather dated looking icons. I will be working on designing new updated and HD icons soon - so don't worry. Until then, enjoy their long awaited return. Additionally, some of you real old CU folk may remember Group Collaboration. Maybe not by that name, but the general functionality was you would make a sort of sub-community within the website, that allowed you to have various members, exclusive topics/posts, and so on. That functionality has also made a return as a feature built into the software. You should see the "Clubs" tab added to the Navigation Menu. From there, you can create a club, with one of the following statuses: Public - Everyone can see the club and its posts, and can participate without joining. Open - Everyone can see the club and its posts, but only members can participate. Everyone can join. Closed - Everyone can see the club and who's in it, but only members can see posts and participate. Users need to ask a leader to join. Private - Only members can find the club and see its posts. Users need to be invited by a leader to join. It is a feature that also had an addon, however when I tried to add it back on the Nuclear District forums, well...it caused some severe database problems that Nuke had to go and clean up for me :x (we love u nukeypoo <3) Can't wait to see what kind of crazy clubs you guys create! Go on, have at it!

This can be achieved by two methods: 1. Changing the old account to @ChaoticUnitedMC and changing the new one to @ChaoticUnited - basically trading names. The point of this would be to leave the old account as a sort of time relic, rather than changing it from its old state. 2. Abandoning the current account and using the old one instead. This is the question that this topic asks.
-
Hey everyone! A couple things have been happening as of late. First off, we have been doing a lot of stuff on our YouTube channel as of late. Namely, livestreams. The CU livestreams have been given the name "Chaotic United LIVE". I have been doing these streams on a daily basis so far, but don't expect that to keep going so frequently after school starts back up. Typically I will be on the Discord #streaming voice channel when streaming, but other times I may be in regular channels as well. On the streams you can expect to see some of the following: - Behind the scenes details on the Relaunch/Test server, as well as CU as a whole - My dad who, if you aren't aware, is universally loved by mostly everyone on CU who knows about him - Unfiltered, uncensored, and uncut voice chatter of me and other staff and players - Contest and Giveaways (planned for the future) - And more! The streams are a fun time for all involved - you can check them out here. Another bit of news is that we have obtained the old CU Twitter Account (@ChaoticUnited). I had the idea to see if it was under a chaoticunited.com email address and sure enough it was. I created the email account, reset the password and now it is ours. However, now we have a bit of a dilemma. That old Twitter account has not been used since the old CU days. I made a few tweets on it last night but overall it is a very old account and is a sort of time piece. Our Twitter (@ChaoticUnitedMC) is newer and while it hasn't been terribly active, comes from the newer iteration of CU. I want to ask you guys which one we should use. We could kick the old Twitter back into life, or we could swap the account usernames, or any number of things. The main reason for changing it off of ChaoticUnitedMC is because CU is becoming more than just an MC server as time goes on and it would be better if we had a proper social media account that was just ChaoticUnited. I have attached a poll - be sure to give your vote! We will also be discussing this in staff, so once we get your feedback we will figure something out.
