  2. Version 1.0.1

    15 downloads

This is the survival world used during 1.10 and 1.11. It was created after the 2016 relaunch and was used up until the 2017 relaunch. The spawn structure for this world was removed to prevent usage of the spawn in other servers, but all player builds are intact. You cannot take this map, or any structures within it, and run it in your own server or someone else's. This is only for those who wants to continue their projects on it instead of having to start over in single player mode. Breaking this rule will result in your download privileges being permanently suspended and could result in your account being banned.

  3. Hey, folks! Since our December survey has been concluded, we are going to go over the results now. In total, 9 users participated in this survey. Thanks to all of you! If you submitted a survey and did not get a code, contact me and I will get your code. Survey Responses First off, let's talk about what modes you guys want to see. The top picks were Survival, Creative, SkyBlock, and Parkour. The top 4 picks are all core modes of CU, and have been present for a while now. Behind those, RPG, SkyWars, and MobArena were voted for. RPG is currently a project we have going on behind the scenes, and has been mentioned a few times before. We will keep you guys updated as that starts to come together. MobArena also made it in at the last minute for MC. SkyWars is something we've wanted to do for a while, but sadly we are having some trouble finding a proper plugin for it. That being said, we will keep you guys posted and we will continue to look into these. Of these, the big winners were mcMMO, Jobs, and random loot chests. So far, mcMMO and Jobs were both in, but loot chests weren't able to make it in (yet). We have some ideas, so stay tuned for that! Quests and /warp event both scored fairly well, both of these being ideas we want to explore in the future. Quests is an uncertain one due to an RPG server basically taking that role, but as with the chests - we have some ideas. /warp event is basically where periodically, the staff will host an event within the server (mostly in Survival) with some kind of award tied to it. These were common on old CU, but have fallen out of favor since 2014. We may end up looking into these however. Vanilla survival and an Auction house were both not really wanted (among those who voted). The overwhelming winner in this scenario was another modern MC server, though I think in retrospect I should have added a "no more servers" option. Followed closely behind was a modded server, with everything else falling in line behind that. We already have both of these, which seems to mirror the current server structure anyhow. Not much else on that. We got some fairly positive feedback on our Beta 1.7.3 server. Of those of you who played it, most of you rated it a 3 and a couple of you gave it a 5/5. A fair chunk of you didn't really vote on this (or just had no real opinion of it) due to not playing, but really, the point of that server isn't to bring in huge mountains of people anyways. Lots of love for Brink of Chaos! Most of you voted a 4 or a 5, but one of you voted 2 . I suspect this is largely due to the steep performance requirements of the pack, but I can't say for sure. Whoever voted for that, if I am incorrect with my assumption, do let me know why it is you voted the way you did! Generally, we had positive opinions on our main server. A lot of you voted 4 or 5, with a few of you giving it a 3. Honestly, for a server that was pre-relaunch, I was expecting worse. Good to see a lot of you guys are enjoying it! Now for the good stuff. This is an interesting one. Based on the chart above, you would think that TTT would be the winner. However, we held a similar poll on Discord of just this question, and we were met with different results. As you can see, CS:GO was actually the winner in this scenario, with TTT being at the very bottom. However, looking back at the original chart again, we also notice that CS:GO is split across 2 options, which if combined result in a 5 - which is above TTT. That being said, the results there are much closer than the total annihilation that CS:GO did to all the others on the Discord poll. In either case, we do actually have a CS:GO server now. You may recall back when the failed merge occurred, we had a CS:GO, ARK, and a couple other servers. When Elaztek started up, those servers got moved over to Elaztek. The CS:GO server as of now is basically a shared server between the two, which are on much better terms nowadays. You can play by connecting to csgo.chaoticunited.net The 3 big winners of this were story-driven games, puzzle games, and games that bring you to their knees with absurd difficulty. Behind that came power fantasies, then MMORPG's, and then everything else. The reason we asked this will become clearer as time goes on. You'll see. I had to edit this graph in Photoshop, because Google Forms decided to shove it into multiple pages - hence the 2nd page thing beneath the actual votes. The ones you see are the ones on the graph. Most of you picked that it didn't apply, or "I still play". Two of these are clearly trolls, so let's ignore those. Some said that you didn't have time to play games anymore - the sad truth. Life is that big thing that comes in the way of your game time and some people just don't have the time to play MC and invest hours and hours into building things anymore. Others said that they just got bored of Minecraft itself - and sadly, there isn't a whole lot we can do in this case either. If you are bored of MC itself, the core game, all we can do is offer other services and do different things to encourage you to remain within the community (which are continuing to make an effort to do). Others of you voted that you were just embarrassed to play a "kids" game. I understand feeling that way, but let me offer a thought - I am 18, many of our players are 16 and several are in their 20's. Other large servers are run by adults or at the very least people with mental maturity. On top of that, our community is very loose when it comes to adhering to any sort of PG-13 nonsense. So don't be embarrassed! If you want to play MC, don't let the opinions of others prevent you from doing that. For those of you who have seemed to find another server, the top reason was a variety in gamemodes. Behind that, it was a tie between there being more to do, someone who has some beef with the CU community for being "cancerous", and someone who seems to not be very fond of Alycat. We are always working on improving our selection of gamemodes - which, thus, leads to there being more to do. The issues with the community and with Aly, unfortunately, aren't issues that can exactly be "fixed". So I'm sorry that those of you who picked that feel that way. Not gonna lie, not a lot of useful stuff here. Ignoring the trolly/uncreative/funny stuff, there is one real suggestion among this. Map resets every 7 months - nice that you picked up on my love for the number 7, but even that can't really convince me of this. Our build team isn't exactly huge, and creating an entirely new set of spawns every 7 months just gets exhausting and just isn't feasible. Prizes for being on top of leaderboards is an interesting one, I like this. Parkour is something we already have - however we may do some "one time" maps for /warp event. Not sure what trivia is, nor do I know what you mean by "make factions better". Whoever suggested this, I would appreciate if you elaborated a bit, I am intrigued by what you may have in mind. Also, can I just ask: who in the world just put "Yes". You said yes, you had ideas - but you seem to have forgotten what the ideas are. ._. Anyways, I want to give a huge thank you to all of you who participated in the survey! While some of the feedback make take time to implement, it is never forgotten and it is always taken into consideration when we discuss what we want to do to expand and improve Chaotic United. Have a great day everyone! And remember to check out our MC server if you haven't for a while. We just relaunched at the very end of 2017 and so far 2018 has been incredible! We are continuing to expand and improve MC with each passing day. Also I had to re-do this entire post because somehow I managed to send the "back" command to my browser with some kind of obscure key combo or something, so that sucked. Anyways, have a good day everyone! - The Chaotic United Team

  5. Hey everybody. The time has come. Chaotic United has relaunched! Let's go over some of the big changes! No? Well, for those of you who have no interest in reading the post, check the info directly below. Below that is the actual post. MC.CHAOTICUNITED.NET 1.12.x Backwards compatiability still works, so you can still play on anything from 1.4.7 to 1.12.2, though it is NOT recommended. NEW GAMEMODES We have introduced MobArena! After being on the request list for a good while, we finally managed to introduce MobArena. To start off, we have 3 maps and we plan to expand and add more as time goes on. The first map is called Heat, a nether-themed map built by myself along with some help from @*-=(Jayden)=-*. The second map is called Ruin, which is a map built off the first CU revival survival spawn (2014) made by @AimWicked. The third map is a modified version of the survival spawn area from CU back in Beta 1.7.3 (2011, not our current beta 1.7.3 server). Additionally, we have introduced The Arena - a PvP-focused gamemode. Like MobArena, we have 3 maps to start with and we will be introducing more maps as time goes on. The first map is called Beaver Creek, which if you couldn't tell, is a map from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 remade in Minecraft. It was built outside of CU and the original map can be found here. The second map is called Tomb, which is a map from MCUniverse that was formerly only referred to as Quake. It is a small map and is designed for close-quarters encounters. The third map is called Labrynth, which is derived from an old thing that @alycat built a long time ago, but better spaced out and better adapted for arena gameplay. The Arena is not complete. We plan to expand upon this mode as time goes on. We plan to introduce SurvivalGames, SkyWars, and other lesser-known modes, some of which will be exclusive to CU. PARKOUR UPDATES Our parkour plugin, NDParkour, has recieved some updates as well as having new maps added. The plugin itself now stores each player's checkpoints and remembers them, and will reject unlocking the same checkpoint twice. This was particularly an issue on larger, vertical maps that just went up and up. If you were to fall down and land on an older checkpoint, you were suddenly set back a huge margin. That will no longer happen anymore. Additionally, there is now an Easy, Normal, and Hard mode. Normal mode is how the plugin has operated in the past. Easy mode operates by allowing you to set a checkpoint at any location, but cuts your award down to 25% (1/4 or 0.25x, however you want to format it). Hard mode gives you 10x the award you normally would, but disables checkpoints entirely. In addition to the various changes that have been made to the plugin, we have a few new maps. You guessed it, 3 new maps. The first one is Oasis, a parkour map set within a mountain wall with a shallow pond of water. It was built by myself with the actual parkour layout being made by @*-=(Jayden)=-*. The second one is called Sandstorm, which is set within a desert. Once again, the main parkour layout was built by @*-=(Jayden)=-* with the map styled and prettified by me. The third map is a simpler map, called EndParkour, which has an End-style theme. It has a strange uniformity to it.You guessed it. @*-=(Jayden)=-* made the core map, with the map prettified by me. Additionally, an older map now known as MagmaParkour has finally been expanded upon. Instead of 3 short layers, the original vision for the course has been realized and it is a crazy tall course. It's also worth a fair chunk of cash, so keep that in mind too. WEBSITE UPDATES Our website has recieved a facelift. We wanted to keep it still fairly similar to the previous website and keep it familiar, but at the same time bring a noticeable facelift. You will notice some new animations as well as some updated page designs. The timeline page looks a lot better than ever before, and most of the website now works better on mobile. Mobile navigation is now a separate menu instead of an awkward emulation of the main navigation menu. The helpcenter index looks much better and now has individual icons for each page. Additionally, the icons are more obviously links. FORUMS UPDATES We have added some new features to the public on our forums. We are introducing Blogs for public use! As a regular user, you are able to create blogs and add entries to them as you desire. In the past we have been using Blogs internally for our update changelog. Now, you can manage your own, too! Additionally, we are now launching our Download center! Our vision for the download center is to foster an environment for content creators, inside and outside of Minecraft, to share their content and, eventually, be able to monetize them if desired. We are still working out the kinks in this system, and we will make an announcement later when we have more definite figures on it. THE FUTURE This update is not the final stage of the server. Now that we've finally launched, we will be working to test things better with you guys and expanding the content further, and here soon we will start our advertising campaign. All of us have been working pretty hard (the admins especially) and so we will be taking a little bit of a rest break in between now and then. We've worked very hard to help create a truly awesome experience, and to finally begin to push to a new frontier in the future of Chaotic United. Lastly, for those of you who submitted survey results thus far, you will be sent your crate key codes via Discord, or if that fails, via forums. We will be posting survey results soon! That's all for now folks. We want to thank all of you for sticking with us this far, and we hope you can stick with us going forward into the future. 12. Being in school is like being trapped. You can't get out of it, you can't say or do anything to change your current situation. You can only keep going forward until you get that piece of paper that says you know some things. School wouldn't be so bad if you felt like you were getting something out of it. When you have a job, you get paid. Even if your job is absolutely miserable, you have the drive to go on because you know that at the end of it you're gonna get a nice paycheck. But with school, you don't get any of that. You go there for 9 hours a day, and you hear teachers bitch you out and assign seemingly pointless worksheets, tests, and so on. And after the day is done, what do you have to show for you hard work? Nothing. You have a decent grade, that's about it. How much does that grade really matter? Not a whole lot aside from that it makes it seem you know more things than the guy who did just enough to squeeze on by. I find it funny how so many successful and important people were all college dropouts. Albert Einstein flunked out of school and yet today he is regarded as one of, if not the, smartest people to ever live. Bill Gates started a multi billion dollar company out of a garage, and he was a college dropout. The past few days, I have been working on cPanel themes for an up and coming webhosting company. I am getting paid some amount of money for doing these themes. It may not be a whole lot, but it's still something. More than you will ever get by wasting hours and hours a week in school. All the teaching and lessons and so on are all based on the same exact fucking formula - lectures, homework, tests, repeat. The issue is that this formula doesn't work for the vast majority of people. I learn better by actually DOING THINGS, not so much by doing a bunch of worksheets. Also, why is there so much homework? You mean to tell me we go and do this shit for 9 hours a day and that still isn't enough time? On top of that, schools fail to relate anything to the real world. What difference does it make if I know what chlorophyll does? That information will never help me out and will give me nothing in the real world. On top of that, my school in particular fails to offer anything in technology and IT. Technology is the future - and the only thing my school offers in that field is a Tech Center with Graphic Design. That isn't even at my main school, I have to go to another building to do that. If you have a job, you can choose to leave. If you hate your job and want to get a better job, you can leave and go get that better job. In school, you are stuck. You can't recognize that it's useless bullshit and just quit to get a job and build a business - you're stuck. You better do those assignments, and you better get those papers done. Plus, when you have a job, your job has some level of purpose in reality. If your job was pointless, you wouldn't have that job. A company will never hire for a pointless position. Ever. They lose money when they do that. In school, so much of the work exists for the sole reason to give you work to do. Rather than give quality lessons, they just give busy work. So much of the lessons are so disconnected from reality. If you have a job, you're not gonna do pointless shit. You are going to do something that may be boring or not very fun, but you know at the end of it that you will be getting a paycheck out of it. At school, you get through so you can go home and enjoy a few hours of free time before going back and doing it all over again. Even with graphic design classes, they manage to disconnect it from reality. If you are a graphic designer, someone tells you what they want in some level of detail, and you take that and run with it. In a graphic design class, you are given prescriptive bullshit that holds your hand on how to do something. If you already know what to do, you can't just go to the end and see what it's telling you to make - you have to do it EXACTLY as they tell you. It's even worse when they tell you to do a bunch of steps and then immediately tell you to undo all of it. If that isn't bullshit busy work, then I don't know what is. Plus, how does one learn by clicking buttons in a particular order? That doesn't teach you shit. Maybe that's why they do it over and over and over again. What I don't get is why schools can't bother to pay the students something. All they say is "oh, you have to know these things". If you ask them why you need to know these things, they cannot give you a straight response to save their lives. So I ask: why? Why is algebra, biology, chemistry, physics, geometry, geology, and all this other garbage so important? It isn't. If you apply this to Math, you might get told something like "You use math every day!" - and while this is true, what you DON'T use every day is highly advanced formulas. If you're buying groceries, you aren't going to be solving for x in any scenario. Hell, you probably won't do much beyond look at the cost and see if you can afford it. Most people bring extra cash or a debit card to pay for things, they don't calculate the exact prices of everything then walk to the store with $16.72 in order to buy a few specific items. Basic math is important. Advanced math that involves algebra and beyond is going to be useless for the majority of people. With English, you might think, "English is important so people can communicate effectively". On the surface, this again sounds solid. But when you look into it, it falls apart. In English class, you don't learn how to communicate effectively once you get into 8th grade and beyond. You start writing essays, poems, research papers and so on. You're reading a book and answering questions. This entire process actually makes people grow up to hate reading. This causes kids to hate reading and then they become adults who hate reading. They never bother because when they think of reading, they subconsciously expect to have to answer a bunch of irrelevant questions and explain things in detail as opposed to simply reading a book for its knowledge, or its entertainment value. The same can be applied to the graphic design class I mentioned earlier, as well as to any school that has programming classes. You will be taking notes and doing work out of a textbook in these classes. When you work as a designer, or you work as a programmer, you don't take notes and do bookwork. You code and you design according to customer demands. That's it. The people in those classes who might have loved coding may end up growing to hate it and avoid it because all they know is the garbage that happened in a classroom. And the tragedy is that what they experience isn't how it is at all. These schools make people hate subjects that are not only useless, but also the classes and skills that can actually help you make good money and bring in good business, too. The only exception to the rule might be History, as in my opinion History is fairly important. As the saying goes, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.". You may argue something in a political debate, and even vote for something. But if the majority of people were never taught our country's history, they may very well vote in someone who will make the same mistake that has already happened before. What if you vote in a president that ends up wanting to do a draft for the military? The one time we did one in the past was a total disaster and led to tons of people in the military who didn't want to be there, and thus, a massive chunk were simply not good soldiers. As such, History, boring as it can be, does have a legitimate reason to be taught. What about college? Sure that gets better right? Well, somewhat. In college you will have access to the classes that just don't exist in High School - programming, network security, graphic design, and so much more is finally made available. But don't get too excited - you're still stuck taking those bullshit classes! English, Math, Science, and all those other general classes will be eating up a good portion of your time. Imagine if you want to be a programmer. You can't just go to college and learn programming. You have to flood your schedule with garbage. Instead of just learning these things you want to learn, things that will help you, you will waste a lot of your time on garbage. Want to study your programming course better? Too bad, get back to your report for English class. You never have the chance to focus on the material you want to focus on exclusively - you have to take time away from that to continue to study the same subjects you've had forced down your throat for the past 12 years. On top of that, college is just expensive. Some people go into debt and never pay it off their entire lives. For those that do get it paid off, its still a huge pile of cash that was spent on getting knowledge to hopefully make it where you can earn a massive fortune in comparison to those debts. And as I said before, some of the most important and successful people to ever walk the planet either never got there or dropped out. Teachers, counselors, and so many school officials never acknowledge the idea of starting your own company and making your own job for yourself. It always the same rhetoric: You need to study and do homework so you can get good grades. You need good grades so you can get a scholarship and/or get picked by a good college. You need to go to college so you can get a diploma. You need a diploma so you can a well-paying job. Never anything about alternative ways to learn the same skills without the garbage in the way, never any mention of ignoring college and making your own way in the world and creating a legacy. Nothing of making success for yourself instead of working your ass off to make your wallet have enough to get by and making another CEO's wallet fatter. Sure, not everyone is CEO, businessman or businesswoman material. But the idea of doing such a thing, being able to work your own hours and not needing to spend 2 to 4 years of your life in college, and then going into crippling debt afterward. If you don't have aspirations to build a legacy, or build a company, or make a way for yourself in the world, that's totally cool. But even you get screwed by the total joke of a school system we have. It isn't just those with ambitions or huge visions to change the world, even the regular guy working 9 to 5 is screwed over. The current school system trains factory workers for bygone era. It teaches you to do exactly what you are told, and teaches you to not think for yourself in any form or fashion. It gives you the idea that you can't challenge or question anything, and that you must accept everything exactly as it is. It stilfes creativity and robs people of their identities. Also in the area of time, most jobs are 9 to 5. So why do students get up between 5 and 7 AM? No person should be forced to do such a thing. I don't just dislike being in school. I am not just some 18 year old hating school because it "just sucks". I wouldn't be spending my every waking moment playing games or watching YouTube if I wasn't stuck here at school. I would be working to build a future for myself and to build my own visions, without the 9 hours a day being stolen from me. I don't just hate being in school. It's much, much more than that and runs far deeper than complacent dislike of sitting in a classroom. I can actually give sensible explanations and reasoning and actual thought as to why school is not only miserable, but is entirely ineffective at teaching kids and is miserably flawed in numerous ways. I remember at one point, in my US History class in Junior year, there was something being discussed and the question arose from the teacher "I think we can all agree that School is important, right?". That statement was met with a worrying amount of Yeah's and other words of agreement with this statement. This was part of another discussion but that question and those answers are what stuck with me. Sure, it's totally important. Not because of what you learn (or rather because of what you don't learn), but because too many employers think that a lack of a High School diploma is the mark of a joke of a human. What if a high school kid realized these facts even sooner than I have? What if he decides to drop out and start his own company? Whenever I bring this up to my dad, I always get a response more or less along the lines of "If you can't make it through High School, you can't make it through anything". What if it's not about being a lazy bastard, but rather just about pure efficiency? About not wanting to waste so much time in what, beyond that piece of paper, truly is a waste of time? They say that High School is as easy as it gets, and everything gets harder afterward. Whether or not that's true, I can't say yet. What I can say is that at least after high school, I can atleast get paid for my effort and reap real, tangible benefits to my efforts. They also say that you will miss high school after you graduate. The only thing I can see someone missing is some of the people that you may never talk to again. That I can understand. But if being in school were the best years of your life, that is just plain sad and I feel bad for you. Being stuck in a brick building, listening to teachers drone on and on and on about things you don't care about at all, being unable to leave and unable to escape the prison that school can often feel like. Being forced to do piles of worksheets on even subjects that have no place requiring notes (looking at you programming, and graphic design). If these are the best years of your life, I feel sorry for you and I send my condolences. I may rant more about school in the future, I will probably make sort of update blog a few months after I graduate and get my life settled in a more permanent fashion, and in a fashion that I control. Expect me to continue to rant about other things, both in blog and video fashion as time goes on. I have a lot of things to say, and I am tired of keeping them locked away. And what better way to start than the prison we all suffer from, the forced labor we all are forced to go through because the law says so? Because that's exactly what school is. Forced labor. A prison. It doesn't just feel like one, it truly is one. My advice is this: don't take it too seriously. Do what you need to pass and get out. Don't waste more time than is absolutely required to get done and get out of the hell. Unless you're a doctor or a scientist, in which case you're out of options aside from school - as the college classes that teach both are the only real way to get the knowledge for those areas. But assuming you're neither, spend as much time as you can learning the things you care about, and maybe even starting your own business sooner rather than later if that's your calling. Don't waste it on the meanginless garbage that is school, spend it on what really matters both to you, and to the world.
  13. Hey everyone, short and sweet today. What kinds of servers would you like to see (that are not MC related) in the future? We are currently looking to try and broaden our servers and we want to try and have something beyond MC. Just vote on the poll!
  14. Hey folks! We are making some changes to our Discord (and community) rules and guidelines. There has been a serious lack of enforcement for the past three years, and while I do not want to be overly strict, I do want to keep some level of order and sensibility within the community. What's changing? Any and all use of the N word, including any derivatives or any word that sounds like it (regardless of dictionary definition) will be disallowed. What this means is that if a word looks and sounds like the N word, it isn't allowed. If the word is a real word in the dictionary and has a definition of something totally different, it still is not allowed. However, use of the word is entirely permitted in the #memes channel. Other racial slurs are also not allowed. You also should exercise a level of common sense. Using redskin as a derogatory term for indians is not allowed, but using redskins in context of the sports team is fine. Use your head and think about these things before posting. Memes, shitposts, and other such posts should be kept to #memes. There has been a lot of shitposting and garbage posting done within the lounge and other channels as of late, and it has started to become very excessive and annoying as of late. As such, this new rule will be enforced. Lounge, Tek, Politics and other such channels are meant for actual discussion - not for garbage and shitposting. Any shitpost content will be deleted from these channels if done excessively and repeat infractions will result in a mute. If things continue to be a problem then shitposting will not be allowed period in these channels. Shitposts include overuse of the :b: emoji, copypastas, support of communism or nazism, random emojis (emojis as a response to a message is fine), random references with no context of any sort (ie, "no u") and so on. Earrape and "shitqueuing" with WakaUnited - What's allowed? NSFW discussion - Talk about how you masturbated 6 times in a day, speak out against no nut november and other such things as you please. We won't judge you - we know you do it and you know we do it. You may not however post porn links (not even in #memes, sorry). You also should exercise a level of restraint. That is, don't go into overly graphic detail on your sexual encounters or how you went totally numb after beating your d*** so damn hard 30 to 45 minutes ago. Swearing - Swearing and foul language (except for the N word and other racial slurs) is fully permitted. Shitposting and using racial slurs in #memes - Keep it in that channel and that channel alone, and we won't have any problems. Why are you changing this? Why the sudden spike in enforcement? The truth is, my intention is not to go from 0 to 100 in terms of enforcement. I want to continue to be somewhat lax on the rules. The issue is that despite me continuously trying to kindly ask that you guys stop outright breaking the rules, it is ignored. I would love to just say "don't be an ass" and call it a day, but the thing is I can't be vague anymore. As time has gone on, people have continued to push the rules to their absolute limit. They have continued to try and rationalize their actions with "you dont like communism? THATS POLITICAL BASHING", or making a laundry list of over 100 variations on the N word, or by posting a shitpost in video format and saying "i was going to talk about my favorite video". I have to explain what exactly is and is not allowed, because people have gotten the idea that if I don't explicitly state that it is against the rules, then it must be allowed and if I say otherwise it's admin abuse. You can say it's all a joke, it doesn't matter. If it was a joke, then those of you who break the rules would stop when I ask you to. I am not one to be fond of strict rules. I know you guys aren't either. That is why this post exists. I ask that you guys work with me as to help keep CU a relaxed environment to chat in. If the rules continue to be ignored and I continue to get this trying to get by with technicalities bullshit, then things will only continue to get strict and will eventually end up at a point where the content described above won't be tolerated at all outside of #memes. Why don't you just allow the N word and whatnot? Why are these not allowed? Why is this a problem? This is an issue because it's just annoying. Not everyone in CU is a memelord and not everyone will enjoy that type of content. There are a lot of people (myself included) that typically find the content to be annoying and just garbage. That being said, I understand that after 3 years of the content being fully permitted, I would be an idiot to disallow it outright, and to be honest I don't want to ban all memes and whatnot from CU entirely. Lastly, just keep in mind that as Owner, if I say something is not allowed, it is not allowed. I don't do this to say an asshole, but to simply keep order. Additionally, staff are not exempt from these rules - your job is to enforce them. It is not abuse, it is how things have been and always will be.
  15. keep in mind we dont have a huge amount of players. It looks bigger when you actually get into it. Trust me this thing is huge. thats what she said
  16. Hey everyone! We are making some progress with the MC relaunch and we want to share it with you thus far. So far, most of the work completed has to do with SurvivalGames and Arena builds. Without giving away too much, here is the latest map that has been completed - Corrupsula. This map has been in the works for months. It was started by Arlem/Windwhistle as a SG map that I wanted him to build. He got the center isle built but ultimately the rest came down to CU's build team. Have a look: More screenshots We have more maps, but we don't want to reveal everything do we? Gotta have something to discover! Additionally, we have two new staff members! @Nish and @rookie_11! Both are helpers, give them a warm welcome to the CU Staff team! We are still continuing to have open positions for staff to compensate for some of our staff going off to college as well as people being slammed with schoolwork. Hit the button below if you want to apply! Apply for a Staff Position If you have any questions or concerns, or anything else to say regarding the future of CU, feel free to speak up! We love hearing from and talking to you guys and getting your view on things.
  17. swooshy show us a pic for reference my boy

  19. Hey guys, just figured I would bring something up to you guys. For a while, we were planning on having an RPG mode for the relaunch. The idea being that it would be an experience made to be fun with, or without anyone else online. A few weeks back, we made the decision internally to push that mode off from the relaunch and slate it as something to develop post-relaunch, as such a major project would hold up the other developments which, while they will take time, will take nowhere near the time and effort needed to build an RPG world, plugins, quests, and so on. We have changed our plans once again. The original idea for the "vanilla" RPG server, along with all the lore and whatnot associated with it has been put on hiatus in favor of a much different RPG mode. The biggest difference is that this mode is being build on modded MC. I talked with a few staff about this and the thinking behind this is that it allows for a significant amount more flexibility than could ever be hoped for with plugins. With modded, we could literally hire voice actors and record real dialogue for characters during story missions (something we may or may not look into, don't hold your breath). So far, here is what I can say about this new RPG server: It, much like the previous idea, NOT be focused on standard Minecraft building and general survival gameplay It will feature quests, unlockables, and other things of the sort It, unlike the previous idea, be Sci-Fi focused rather than medieval focused It will feature brand new blocks, items, UI, and so much more I am bringing this up because I am curious to see what you guys think about this decision. As should be obvious by this point and the way things in the past have taken a 180 in the matter of a few seconds, nothing is set in stone. I am aware that by making RPG a modded-only thing, we take a significant hit to the potential player gains - both due to weak player computers as well as the much taller barrier to entry. As easy as Technic is, there are people who just won't bother putting in the time. We plan to have a healthy marketing scheme this time around as well as some promotional material and whatnot to entice players, but it won't be as much as if it was vanilla. The simple fact is there is a lot that can't be done with plugins alone. You can sort of do things, sure. You can put stained glass panes in a fake chest, all renamed to text of some sort to represent a button. This is probably the most boring and weakest example ever, but that's a simple thing you can't do on vanilla. 3D gun models? Nope, not happening. Advanced quests with waypoints and so on? If only. Custom blocks and textures alongside vanilla blocks? LOL no. That being said, this is why I said earlier that the previous RPG server has been put on hiatus. It is NOT being cancelled. All of its lore, backstory, and existing builds that have been set for it will remain on the side until the day comes that we may or may not need them. In the offchance that the old idea never gets revisited and this new project is a truly groundbreaking hit, we do plan to have these set in the same sort of universe - just in much different time periods. As such, some builds from that may be utilized in some form or fashion on the new RPG mode. But I digress, none of this is truly final. You know what that means - poll time (again)! In the poll attached, just tell me: would you prefer a modded or vanilla RPG? Medieval or Sci-Fi? Or if you have anything else to say, or maybe even some ideas, feel free to reply! Have a good day everyone!

    Legacy Pages

Legacy Websites Here and there, Chaotic United will make legacy versions of websites readonly but viewable to the public. An example would be the Chaotic United forums before Nuclear District announced its closure, or the old United AlyCraft forums. Another example is the old Chaotic United website, seen here: http://chaoticunited.net/classic. Sometimes, we may have internal legacy websites that exist somewhere on the webserver but are never shown to the public. Very rarely is this the case, but when it is it is usually due to copyright or legal reasons, or in some cases, our of genuine respect for the creator's wishes. They are usually kept on hand for content reusability, for instance if an older website had a feature or page, or a page style or layout that we feel would blend well with the existing website layout. But sometimes even then, we just keep them online so we can relive some nostalgia. Which is the main reason you see any public legacy websites to begin with.Legacy Pages Legacy pages can mean a couple of things. It could refer to a page that is no longer updated, or a page that is no longer required, for instance if its functionality has been replicated elsewhere. These legacy pages will still work by all means, it's just that they are no longer updated. Sometimes, these pages can be skipped over or unchecked during site upgrades. While many times pages will work, sometimes things can cause specific legacy pages to either break visually or functionally, thus rendering them unusable. Some examples of these pages are the CU and ND staff pages, the CU page being replaced with the staff list in the About page, and the ND one being discontinued as Nuclear District is closing (though I wouldn't be surprised to see some return of those 3D skins in the future).List of Legacy Pages CU StaffND StaffRules (Deprecated in favor of Rules page on Forums) Classic CU Website Chaotic District Forums (original host) Chaotic District Forums (backup copy, separate host) Old Helpcenter (Deprecated in favor of new helpcenter within forums)
  21. The following are a series of guidelines that staff are expected to adhere to. 1. Accounts You are expected and required to have an account on our Forums and on Discord 2. Advertising You are expected to advertise regularly. While we do not enforce the way of old Chaotic United that required helpers to make 50 comments daily, we still expect you to make an effort to try to grow the community and its gameservers If you held any staff position prior to May 5, 2017 will not be required to do this. You will still be asked to do it but you will not lose your rank because of failure to do so. Please note that if you have resigned, retired, or otherwise lost your rank before you will be required to follow this rule. 3. Staff Gang-Ups A terminology born out of events that transpired on United AlyCraft and eventually found their way into Chaotic United, this is when staff members actively conspire to get another staff member demoted for unwarranted reasons. Commonly, immaturity, stupidity, and other vague insults are used to defend their reasoning. While sometimes staff members can become corrupt and the rest of the team must work to get that person demoted, too many times have members been demoted for nonsense. If you are caught involved in a gang-up that does not have a genuine reason that can be backed up factually, you will be given a warning on your first offense, and demoted on your second offense. The best way to do things like this is to go directly to an Owner and inform them of the situation and ask them to take action if necessary. 4. Merges Merges have done good and have done bad for Chaotic United. Instances like the merge with Nuclear District, while ND did close down, it was ultimately a successful merge. Other instances, like WindFrontier, were not as successful. As a result, we now have a clear-cut policy in place for how future merge opportunities should be handled. There must not be any quarrels between the CU staff and the merging community's staff. If there are any quarrels, these must be resolved before the merge process proceeds. The merging community must be willing to merge into CU. We will not merge into another community save for very extreme circumstances. The merging community must have something to offer CU that will benefit the community as a whole. The merging community must agree to the CU Merger Agreement. 5. The Owner's Word As a staff member, you acknowledge and understand that the Owner's word is final. Criticism is welcomed and input in decisions is appreciated, but Owners reserve the right to make their final say on anything. This includes results from staff or community votes.
