Background All custom blocks which rely on the Note Block Technique are, as the name implies, technically Note Blocks. The server resource pack applies custom textures to them based on their instrument and note, and the CUCraftingPlus plugin handles functionality for these blocks. Within the resource pack, the default note (0) for all instruments is left as the default Note Block texture. All other notes are reserved for custom block use. The first note is left as default to ensure that when a Note Block is placed, it always has the proper texture and doesn't briefly show a different texture. In order to ensure that any reserved Note Block variants are not placed within the world on accident (as this would result in them becoming different blocks at some point in the future), all Note Block variants that are not assigned to a custom block are given a fallback texture. Rather than using Minecraft's default fallback texture, they use a Black and Green checkerboard pattern - which indicates that the block in question is just an unused custom block. These unused blocks cannot be obtained by any means, and can only be set using commands. In normal gameplay, they should never appear within the world - otherwise, this could indicate an issue with the CUCraftingPlus plugin. The only scenarios which are considered "acceptable" for this texture to be seen are as follows: A player is using an earlier version of the server resource pack, which does not have updated block models or textures A staff member has explicitly placed invalid blocks on purpose, though this should never be done outside of private bases The texture briefly "flickers" momentarily if a block below one or more custom blocks is broken - this is an unavoidable issue and is due to certain block update events happening clientside. If the textures/models do not immediately revert to their correct appearance, however, this likely indicates an error within the CUCraftingPlus plugin and should be treated as a bug. In the case that one of these blocks are encountered due to a block being unimplemented within CUCraftingPlus, they will behave mostly like a normal Note Block, minus the ability to play or adjust the note. When broken, they will drop a normal Note Block. History Main MC Server MC 1.18 Added reserved block texture
