Killerteddy1 (Boss Fight)

 Share

This page refers to the boss fight available within Survival on the MC server. For the original Owner of Chaotic United, see this page (TBA).

Killerteddy1 is a boss that can be defeated within Survival on the Minecraft server. The boss was inspired by, and pokes fun at, the original owner of Chaotic United, also named Killerteddy1. When defeated, a variety of possible items can be dropped, including a powerful sword known as The Reclaymore.

Starting the Fight

The fight with Killerteddy1 (referred to in the rest of the page as Teddy) can be triggered either by using the mysterious red portal in Survival spawn, or by using either the /warp teddy or /teddy tpdung commands, though the latter will teleport you facing backwards.

Upon entering the portal or using the command, the player will be in Teddy's Castle - a large fortress atop an endless sea of dark clouds, where thunder and rain are constant. Heading forward down the stairs and following the path straight ahead, a large gate/hole can be seen. Opening the gate if necessary and jumping down the hole will begin the fight.

Behavior

Teddy has several possible attacks that he can do during the course of the fight. Each phase lasts around 15 seconds, and phases are selected randomly throughout the course of the fight. At the start of each phase, Teddy says one of his possible taunt messages.

After each phase, a rest period of 15 seconds is given to allow the player to recover and prepare for the next phase, as well as deal damage to Teddy. When each rest period begins, all players near the central pillars are launched back away from it a moderate amount. Additionally, Teddy will say another taunt message at the start of each rest period as well.

Any time any player takes damage during the fight, Teddy's armor value increases, making him more resistant to damage.

Phase Name Details
Mobs
  • During this phase, Teddy will spawn a total of 2 mobs per player every 3 seconds, each equipped with strong armor and weapons
  • Each enemy is referred to as an "Essence" and will have the names of either any player who has previously died during the fight, or the name of a significant historical figure within the community
  • At the end of the phase, any mobs remaining will not be removed. It is possible for a large amount of these mobs to build up over the course of the fight if they are not properly dealt with
Explosions
  • During this phase, Teddy will repeatedly spawn phantom clones every 1.5 seconds, which remain invulnerable until the particles surrounding them disappear. Killing these clones reduce Teddy's armor value.
  • Each time a clone is spawned, an explosion is made at the clone's location
  • At the end of the phase, all clones disappear
Fireballs
  • During this phase, Teddy clones will spawn on the central pillars within the boss chamber and begin launching fireballs at the player every 1.5 seconds
    • By default, 6 clones are spawned per player
    • If each pillar has a Teddy clone spawned on it, no further clones will be spawned
    • Killing these clones reduce Teddy's armor value
  • At the end of the phase, all clones disappear
Launch
  • During this phase, a small particle area will appear on the ground every 2 seconds. Shortly after these particles appear, players within that area will be launched into the air. Players who escape the particle area before this time are not launched.

Taunts

Throughout the fight, Teddy will periodically say one of a variety of possible taunt messages. Most taunt messages are original or are inspired by popular media, however several are also inspired by phrases that the real-world Killerteddy1 had said previously on recordings - namely, ones including the phrases "peanut brain" or "Jimmy Neutron".

The complete list of taunts is as follows:

  • You will not survive this!
  • Weaklings!
  • I have that Jimmy Neutron brain! You stand no chance.
  • You will feel my wrath!
  • I see that you are a follower in haloman30 now. I'll make you a believer in me.
  • You think that your precious Durite will save you?
  • You will tremble before me!
  • I can never be erased!
  • How much time do you need to realize that this is the end?
  • Do you really believe you can be rid of me this easy?
  • That's cute.
  • I am inevitable.
  • Where is your precious Nuke to save you now?
  • I'm going to do worse than banning you.
  • You can't free them; they are infinitely many.
  • These players once revered me. They will serve me one way or another.

Other Dialogue

There are several other instances where Teddy will speak either during or after the fight.

Teddy will say one of several possible messages upon being defeated, including:

  • You have not heard the last of me!
  • How can this be!?

Teddy will say the following lines after the fight has started:

  • You could not live with the failure of removing me.
  • And where did that lead you? Back to me.

Teddy will say the following line if all players abandon the fight before completion:

  • That's right peanut brains! Know your place.

Rewards

Upon defeating Teddy, 2 reward items per player are dropped, with a maximum of 10 total rewards. The amount of each item dropped is randomized, with amounts ranging from 1 to the maximum stack size for the given item. The available rewards include:

Additionally, for each item dropped, an XP Orb with between 50 to 150 XP is dropped.

Illegal Items

However, in the event that one or more players enter the fight has one or more "illegal items", no rewards will be dropped for any players at the completion of the fight. An illegal item has one or more of the following characteristics:

  • The item is spawned in using /item, or was crafted using items obtained with /item
  • The item has one or more enchantments beyond the maximum level, which is only possible using /enchant

Lore

After Teddy's exile from Chaotic United, he remained unseen for many years. Eventually, however, it was discovered that he was lurking out of sight - preparing his grand return.

At first, he would simply make his presence known - by briefly haunting other players, echoing the Herobrine myths of old. However, after some time, he grew bored of this - and began to escalate.

Thankfully, his power is routinely kept in check by the players who slay him - gradually taking back the riches he previously stole from the old Chaotic United.

History

Main MC Server
MC 1.16
  • Added CUTeddy plugin
  • Teddy will periodically "haunt" players, before disappearing
MC 1.16.1
  • Removed CUTeddy plugin, replacing it with CUTeddyBoss
  • In addition to the periodic haunting mechanic, the proper boss battle with Teddy was introduced
MC 1.18.2
  • The custom items associated with the CUTeddyBoss plugin were migrated to CUCraftingPlus, in order to keep all custom content within a single central system

Trivia

  • At one point, there were plans for 'Data Mites' - areas within the overworld which would be 'corrupted'. These would need to be recovered by the player in order to restore the original terrain.
  • Despite the fight itself being fully fleshed out, there remain plans to expand and improve how the fight itself is started. Rather than relying on players entering a portal, future ideas include having dungeons within the overworld that could contain keys to unlock the gate to Teddy's boss chamber
  • An earlier version of Teddy's skin lacked the now iconic "derp" mouth, however it was later reintroduced prior to the fight being formally introduced to the server
  • The skin that Teddy uses within the fight is almost identical to the current skin of the real-world Killerteddy1, with the only notable change being the removal of the pupils to evoke the soulless eyes of Herobrine
  • Teddy was originally not planned to include a boss fight at all, and only started as a plugin to periodically "haunt" players with a brief image of Teddy - a tribute/homage to the old Herobrine legends. This behavior is still present, and can be toggled using /teddy toggle
