An Unimbued Staff is a staff created using all 3 Mage Staff parts. It has no abilities by itself, but can be imbued with an Ancient Crystal to create the Mage Staff.
Obtaining
Currently, the Unimbued Staff cannot be obtained. Previously, it could be obtained via crafting. It required 1 Mage Staff Top, 1 Mage Staff Middle, and 1 Mage Staff Bottom:

There were a total of 3 Mage Staff parts:

Each of the Mage Staff parts could be obtained by trading with a Wise Mage. In order to trade for a part, you would have to provide two different parts - for instance, you could trade a Top and a Middle for a Bottom, or two Bottoms for a Middle.
Additionally, the Mage Staff Top also had a chance to drop from defeating an Ancient Paladin. A Mage Staff bottom could also potentially be dropped after defeating an Ancient Archer.
Usage
An Unimbued Staff has no abilities by itself. In order to be useful, it must be imbued with an Ancient Crystal at a Magic Altar to create the Mage Staff. This can be done by right-clicking a Magic Altar while holding the Unimbued Staff in your main hand, and an Ancient Crystal in your off hand.
