  1. My first world download for this topic. I started this in 1.1 or 1.2 and since then have made some serious progress. There's some complex redstone and some sneaky secrets, as well as an excess of ocelots in the farm. Give me some feedback on the world if you want, and I'll update the save file as needs be. Enjoy. FALK0N77 World Download 1
  2. A while back someone asked me for a copy of my single player world as they thought it looked quite interested. Today, I was looking through my public Dropbox files and saw the world I shared. That made me think that maybe we should have a section where people can share and update their single player worlds for other people. You could use any file host you want (so long as it's free - JumboFiles or MediaFire are good) and can update your world download as often or as little as you like. The only real requirements are that you give a short explanation of the world (e.g. I started this in version 1.2.5 and It was intended as a let's play. That didn't pan out so I kept it as legit as possible, even though I used TMI and Zombe for some of it.) Also, make sure to follow the topic so you can keep up with world updates and remind yourself to upload new versions. Please make sure you compress the save files as a standard .zip so anyone can un-zip and use it, and try to refrain from using passwords on your files. If you do, please include them in the description of the file. You can leave signs and other such like throughout your world if you wish, and you can PM the uploader with an updated version if you want them to look at something you did / made in their world. If you do, try and give them as much detail as possible about what you did, how etc so they can tell other people if they decide to share your link. Don't upload other people's worlds without their permission as this could cause all sorts to problems for everyone. That's about it for now, if I need to add anything I'll edit this post. I'll add my latest world dowload for you guys now and hopefully you'll give me some good feedback on this idea.
  3. Feel free to use anything I post on here (so long as you say it's from me unless I say otherwise)
  4. Here's a .zip file of my world (it was intended as a Let's Play World but my laptop can't handle FRAPS and MC) https://dl.dropbox.c..._01.08.2012.zip
  5. Well so far I've found that Zombie Pigmen can spawn in the overworld (I was running my 1.2.5 world in 1.3.1 when I captured this)
  6. 8GB of DDR3 RAM should be enough for most games. If you're thinking of recording as well, consider a dual or possibly even a triple HDD setup (but only if you want it). At least 500GB for the HDD I would say, so you don't run out of space too quickly. i5's are more specialised for gaming than i7's, but then the different architecture of more AMD CPUs means that you get slightly more power upfront for the sacrifice of more dynamic multitasking on the hyper-threaded Intel CPUs. AMD or nVidia GPUs are good, just depends on what you find. A card with at least 1GB of dedicated RAM should already have more than enough clock speed for most games so shouldn't be a problem. You can also get some pre-packaged GPU's from companies such as ASUS who have basically taken tha card from AMD or nVidia and stuck some fans and a fancy case on it before bumping up the price a little bit. For novice builders this is easier as it reduces the amount of wiring required but can limit your access to the PCI ports. You should get a PSU that exceeds your power requirements by 100W or so, leaving you with the ability to upgrade some of your parts without need a new PSU every time as well. That pretty much sums up my knowledge of computer building. One last piece of advice though is to check (if you can) how compatible your choice of components are with each other to reduce the amount of driver re-coding you may need to do for your system to run properly. If something I have said is glaringly wrong (such as quoting computer specs etc) then please rectify me, otherwise know that this is just my knowledge and that you can pay as much or as little attention to it as you want, given it is your computer you are building, not mine.
  7. My absolute favourite mod by far has to be Optifine, as it gives so much more control (and therefore FPS) to me when playing Minecraft. TMI is good when Modloader is installed as you can give yourself infinite stacks of items without the issue of instantly getting a full stack if you pick up a block like when using the maxstack command on SPC. Zombe is also very useful as it gives you hotkeys to most of the aspect of SPC and TMI, albeit with different usages etc (no console, key combos etc). To summarise: Optifine: Mod that adds many options to game setting, effectively giving the player the ability to double or sometimes even triple their FPS through game optimisation (I get about 2 - 2.5 times FPS increase on Single Player, About 1.5 times on multiplayer) TMI (aka TooManyItems): Inventory Editor with time control, gamemode switching, difficulty switcher, and item spawning UI SPC (aka SinglePlayerCommands): World Edit control plus many other commands to make construction etc MUCH easier for large projects. Only problem is, the atlantis command, which I gather to be useful for trying to make underwater bases, has been disabled) Zombe's ModPack: A compilation of mods to enhance both the game and building power of the user. Compatible with most Bukkit servers (if set up so) it not only saves time but also your brain, as you only need to learn your keyboard rather than complex command strings. That's about it from me now. Enjoy modding! PS: I use Modloader simply to help ensure all mods run as I want them to. All it really does is stop mod conflicts etc. A variation of it is included in Optifine. PPS: I also use mcpatcher to install my mods, as it sorts everything out in one go and lets me order said mods into and heirarchy I want, thereby letting me choose which mods should replace aspects of other mods (i.e. modloader with Optifine etc) OK, I'm definitely finished now. *takes a huge breath and collapses from asphyxiation*
  8. I can. Given I realised I've been lied to for something rather major in my life for over 10 years of my life, I can entirely believe and almost expect people to be money sucking scumbags, especially during these economic times.
  9. Looks like the team has taken a big one on the chin, come out smiling and offered the perpetrator a haughty grin. Good job chaps! Next time, make sure you can give them an even bigger punch for all us members yeah? Long live Chaotic!
  10. Stupid firewalls. That is why I always leave mine alone until it needs to be re-configured, and then disable it to download a completely different one.
  11. You're welcome. On a side note, what did you need to do to fix it (if you have done so)?
  12. You should just be able to update from your launcher. With the default launcher it is in options>force update if you don't get the option to update after logging in. On the cracked client you "don't" check the box that says force update because you paid for minecraft and have no need for a cracked client. Did you try to install any mods after updating? Did that succeed? Did you use any mods that add aspects into the game (e.g. mo' creatures) and has it been updated / installed (correctly)? If that doesn't work, try a force update (see above) and then run without any mods. If that works, install each mod you use 1 at a time, checking after each install, until you find one that causes a crash. If that still doesn't work, go on GetSatisfaction and search for Solutions to Common Minecraft Problems. Myself and others can provide help if you do a dump of the error log that should be generated. Tutorials should be present there as to how to find said error log. Hope that helped.
  13. By posting in this topic (an incorrect place for this kind of request) you ARE spamming, given posting in the wrong topic asking for promotion to member is against the forum rules.
