  11. Hey, everyone! We've got something exciting to share today! We have officially launched our Hytale server! If you don't care too much about all the details, feel free to hop on at hytale.chaoticunited.net! Otherwise, if you've managed to resist TikTok brain and are curious to learn more, keep reading. What is Hytale? Hytale is a sandbox/RPG hybrid developed by Hypixel Studios - yes, led by the same folks who run the Hypixel Minecraft server. They first announced Hytale back in 2018, and continued development for a while, before being acquired by Riot Games. Updates gradually slowed, due to scope creep and a total engine rewrite in C++ (as opposed to their original Java engine, used in the initial trailers and such). It was ultimately cancelled in mid-2025 - until it was then bought back from Riot games by the original creator, and now, has finally (and surprisingly quickly) launched in early access! For us, this was something we felt was a huge opportunity to dive into - as it was built for modders and server developers in mind, which even in this early access state is overwhelmingly obvious. Without getting excessively technical, the vanilla Hytale server has APIs for permissions, plugins, content mods, and so much more - we're still learning as we go, but it seemingly has the capability of not just something akin to a Bukkit API, but even the ability to actually add new content - and there's already a fairly substantial chunk of mods online. What's available on the server? For now, the server isn't anything too special - it's a fairly minimal server setup, with some basic permissions and land claim functionality. As time goes on, and depending on what you folks are interested in, we expect that to change as time goes on, potentially relatively quickly - and of course as both ourselves and the broader Hytale community learn what exactly can and can't be done with the game. Currently, there are no donor ranks, nor any other form of monetization - we're still deciding on how we want to approach this with this new server. On our Discord server, we've also introduced a #hytale-chatlogs channel, which acts much like our #mc-chatlogs channel. Cracked Support Some of you will know that in the past, our Minecraft server has supported cracked players (as in, players who didn't yet own a legitimate copy of the game). Technically, we still do - though we don't actively promote this feature, and we broadly feel that you should probably just buy the game at this point - it's a fantastic value, especially on Java Edition. The only reason we keep cracked support in is purely legacy reasons - the old CU was cracked, and Nuclear District's server was cracked early on, and so we've kept that going in spite of it all. Hytale, being a new server and a new game, will not be following this trend - and we will not be supporting cracked clients. This is still largely an indie game - and we feel, similar to Minecraft, you should probably just buy the game. With the game being in early access, we encourage you to check videos and reviews online if you'd like to better understand if you'll enjoy it or not. What does this mean for the Minecraft server? Overall, not much - our Minecraft server isn't going anywhere. The only real impact is that, depending on the success of the Hytale server (and the game overall), there may be more or less time devoted to the Hytale server - and so this may further impact feature development and updates on the MC server. As always, though, we remain committed to continuing our Minecraft server onwards, and our plans for upcoming custom content (which remains quite expansive) have not changed in any degree - you can still expect to see the return of MagicStuff soon™. For now, though, that's all we've got! We look forward to seeing you folks on Hytale!

  14. Update as of 12/28/2025: Figured I would post one more follow-up before the end of the year, as there have been some shockingly positive changes since my earlier post. A few weeks ago, I was in the process of exploring second job options - the most likely of which seemed to be a janitorial job paying 12-13 an hour. Not great, but would still be enough to keep me afloat. However, on a whim that I can't quite explain, I decided to one last time look around for more IT/career-focused opportunities. Instead of trying the usual approach of just sifting through Indeed and other job boards and getting next to nothing in terms of results, I opted to try looking for potential employers and reaching out directly, whether they had any listing anywhere or not. I had tried this a couple times in the past, with one of those being the most promising lead I ever had (though it ended up falling through in the end). And at this point, I figured it couldn't hurt. Most places didn't have any availability or openings currently, but one place did in fact reach back with some further communication - and an in-person meeting - for a web designer job. This was followed by a phone call with the web design team lead, and then followed by a downright miracle: I would be given a sort of "trial" project (though still a normal project for a real client) to see how I worked and what I was able to produce with their tools, and if that went well, then things would move forward. That was a few weeks ago, and as of now, I'm about to start on my 3rd project for them - so I feel I can now safely say that this is a real thing that is actually happening. Part of me is still in disbelief that it actually happened - that at the last possible moment, where I had lost most hope of getting into any sort of career position anytime in the near future and that I'd have to buckle down and work multiple menial labor jobs, I managed to lock in rare opportunity by just sending some information through a contact form. The Future Outlook The good news is that this position is totally remote, and is project-based rather than hourly - so my schedule is a lot more flexible than it would be with anything else. The two small downsides is that there is no real "endpoint" with this job, and that in terms of pay, it may be on the lower end - so it'll take a little longer to get things firmly situated. While the original plan was "grind it out for a few months and then call it", with this being such a rare diamond in the rough, this isn't something I have any plan to pack up and leave from - which means that my schedule may be more limited from here on out. At least, for the time being. One thing I have been told is that they do have every intention of, whenever possible, to hire people on full-time and set things up to where this can be viable as a primary source of income in the further future. There's no timeline on this, as this is a small local business (and as such I also won't be naming them), but it's possible that after some length of time, this could end up being my main job - but only time will tell. Regardless - it's a very nice way to cap off the year, and in a shocking turn of events, I find myself going into the next year with more optimism instead of the dread of what the alternative would've been.
