Hey, everyone! We've got something exciting to share today! We have officially launched our Hytale server! If you don't care too much about all the details, feel free to hop on at hytale.chaoticunited.net! Otherwise, if you've managed to resist TikTok brain and are curious to learn more, keep reading. What is Hytale? Hytale is a sandbox/RPG hybrid developed by Hypixel Studios - yes, led by the same folks who run the Hypixel Minecraft server. They first announced Hytale back in 2018, and continued development for a while, before being acquired by Riot Games. Updates gradually slowed, due to scope creep and a total engine rewrite in C++ (as opposed to their original Java engine, used in the initial trailers and such). It was ultimately cancelled in mid-2025 - until it was then bought back from Riot games by the original creator, and now, has finally (and surprisingly quickly) launched in early access! For us, this was something we felt was a huge opportunity to dive into - as it was built for modders and server developers in mind, which even in this early access state is overwhelmingly obvious. Without getting excessively technical, the vanilla Hytale server has APIs for permissions, plugins, content mods, and so much more - we're still learning as we go, but it seemingly has the capability of not just something akin to a Bukkit API, but even the ability to actually add new content - and there's already a fairly substantial chunk of mods online. What's available on the server? For now, the server isn't anything too special - it's a fairly minimal server setup, with some basic permissions and land claim functionality. As time goes on, and depending on what you folks are interested in, we expect that to change as time goes on, potentially relatively quickly - and of course as both ourselves and the broader Hytale community learn what exactly can and can't be done with the game. Currently, there are no donor ranks, nor any other form of monetization - we're still deciding on how we want to approach this with this new server. On our Discord server, we've also introduced a #hytale-chatlogs channel, which acts much like our #mc-chatlogs channel. Cracked Support Some of you will know that in the past, our Minecraft server has supported cracked players (as in, players who didn't yet own a legitimate copy of the game). Technically, we still do - though we don't actively promote this feature, and we broadly feel that you should probably just buy the game at this point - it's a fantastic value, especially on Java Edition. The only reason we keep cracked support in is purely legacy reasons - the old CU was cracked, and Nuclear District's server was cracked early on, and so we've kept that going in spite of it all. Hytale, being a new server and a new game, will not be following this trend - and we will not be supporting cracked clients. This is still largely an indie game - and we feel, similar to Minecraft, you should probably just buy the game. With the game being in early access, we encourage you to check videos and reviews online if you'd like to better understand if you'll enjoy it or not. What does this mean for the Minecraft server? Overall, not much - our Minecraft server isn't going anywhere. The only real impact is that, depending on the success of the Hytale server (and the game overall), there may be more or less time devoted to the Hytale server - and so this may further impact feature development and updates on the MC server. As always, though, we remain committed to continuing our Minecraft server onwards, and our plans for upcoming custom content (which remains quite expansive) have not changed in any degree - you can still expect to see the return of MagicStuff soon™. For now, though, that's all we've got! We look forward to seeing you folks on Hytale!

Hey, everyone! Today, we're introducing some long-overdue changes to how staff applications work - streamlining the entire process from start to finish. For all the details, keep on reading. A Brief History Lesson First and foremost, let's go over where we started out, for those unfamiliar. The previous staff application process was largely unchanged from the old Chaotic United, with the entire process - and even the specific questions asked - being virtually unchanged from back then. It consisted of a single form that users could fill out, at any time - with the goal of creating a database of potential candidates that could be drawn from in the future. Users could apply at any time, even if a particular position was 'full'. And, as an applicant, you'd essentially never hear a word back unless you were eventually selected to move forward. This could be anywhere from shortly after applying, to literal years later - and if an application was deemed to not be acceptable, it was just ignored. In the old CU days, voice interviews were also performed after the application - we even did these ourselves a couple times, but eventually stopped doing so as they ended up being fairly redundant and unnecessary. Additionally, we also rarely ever used staff applications in the sense of having a 'database of candidates' either - though the notice on top of the application form would still claim this, the text having been lifted directly from the old CU forums. Additionally, many of the questions - some being from the old days, and others being our own additions - were largely redundant or unimportant, resulting in a fairly drawn-out application process. Clearly - there was room for improvement. And so, taking these issues into consideration, and using more contemporary job portals as inspiration, we decided to finally address them. New and Improved The new staff application center is much more akin to a traditional job portal - in fact, it's a modified version of the Elaztek Studios job portal - just with some changes and tweaks to better suit Chaotic United. You can view and search for open positions, view descriptions of each position, and put in an application. Additionally, when we aren't open for additional candidates, applications can be either disabled outright - or, if we're still keeping our feelers out, we can indicate that we aren't actively seeking new applicants. This means that, when applying, you have a much better idea when (or if) you can expect to hear back The application process itself has also been simplified - with some questions being taken out entirely, some new ones being added in, and some previous ones being clarified to be a bit clearer. Overall, it should be a much simpler and easier process - no longer than it needs to be. Once you've applied, viewing your application itself will also be much simpler. You can quickly get back to the job you applied to, view your own results, and most notably - view the status of your application. No more ambiguity as to where you're at, and you can feel free to comment on your own application (or bring it up to a staff member) to ensure it gets seen. One last change worth mentioning is that when viewing job openings, you'll see both a comments and reviews section at the bottom. If you've held a particular position in the past, we encourage you to leave a review - we won't remove any that make honest criticism. If you haven't held a position for very long, or you haven't yet held one, you can instead post a comment. Star ratings are visible next to each job within the list, allowing new applicants to easily get a sense of what a particular position is like, according to those who were in those shoes. Any old applications submitted using the old system can still be viewed within the Staff Applications subforum, which has been moved to the Archive category. If you applied before, we generally will not be looking at the old applications when selecting new staff members - so if you want to be considered, be sure to put a new application in through the new system. If you're interested in applying to the team, we've also written up a document outlining some of the expectations we have of our staff members - allowing you to get a better sense of how we work, letting you get an idea early on if our team is one you'd like to be a part of. This is required reading for submitting an application and is included in all application forms - but if you'd like, you can also find it linked directly here. Wrapping Up We believe this new system will make staff applications easier and simpler - for both you, and for us - and who knows, maybe some other systems in the website could be worth getting some similar treatment down the line. But such projects are for another time - for now, that's all we've got. If you're someone who's interested in joining the team, be sure to visit the Staff Application portal here and see if anything interests you!

The time has come for Modded MC to return to Chaotic United! Once again, we are utilizing the Brink of Chaos Modpack - but this time around, we have included various mods suggested by YOU - the CU Community! The Modded MC Subforum has been added (and contains topics from FTB Trident, Horizons, and old BOC) and has a couple new topics added - an up-to-date list of all the mods installed, and a topic to help those unfamiliar with the Technic Launcher to get up and running. In terms of resources, you are going to need at least 4GB of RAM on your PC and a decent CPU. RAM is the biggest thing you need. If you know how Technic works, just set your memory to 4GB (or 3.5GB if you only have 4GB in your PC, or more if you have it). If you aren't entirely sure how to do this, check out this handy topic. For a full list of mods, check this other topic. As you can also see, we have a new and improved logo design for the Modpack as well! It is made to better fit what the pack overall has - technology, creativity, and weaponry. Our server actually HAS a spawn now, which is a considerable step up from the server that we tried to do before which really never had one. This modpack has been in the works since earlier this year, you may even recall BlarFlargen mention hosting it in the past. Now, the server is hosted by AwakenedRage/Kryptoaware, who while is not present on the CU Discord, still is involved in CU from the management side of things. Our server is live at mod.chaoticunited.net - but this is technically unimportant, because the Modpack ships with the server already on your server list! We hope you guys enjoy the new and improved Modded MC experience, and stay tuned as we have another server set to launch soon as well. A server really designed for a small niche audience, but something we want to bring to CU nonetheless. So, go on! Have fun!
