  1. New PvP Plugin - Minecraft Due to popular demand and many requests for a new PvP (player vs player) system, I decided to write a new system for the server. The new player vs player system can be used globally within any world. To turn your PvP status on, just do: /pvp To turn it back off you just do the same command again. Be warned however - you cannot turn PvP off for 30 seconds after turning it on, and if you try to relog while in combat you will be destroyed. Furthermore, potions only hurt people who have PvP on if you yourself have PvP on. So good luck, and happy hunting!

  3. I pre-generated the world but only players manually traversing each chunk causes the server to index it and insert it into the cache.
  4. If you are all connected to the same network connection, only two of you can register. The server will lag quite badly for the first day while all the new map is indexed into a cache. You will slowly see the server start to speed up the longer we wait.
  5. Fellow veterans of ChaoticUnited, It is with deep regret that I must finally come to the painful announcement of what is happening with Minecraft. For those of you who are not aware of the situation yet: the hosting company that we were with went rogue, and continued taking payments but did not renew the contract. This meant that without prior notice we had our dedicated server terminated and lost all data on it. Luckily for World of Warcraft and Runescape, there were valid backups to be restored from. Unluckily for Minecraft, the only recent backup that was feasible to use failed to restore from due to data corruption from the transfer process. This means that we have been forced to start fresh in 1.2.5. We recovered what data we could, such as authentication details, encrypted personal information and McMMO data. These have been restored and you will find that they continue to function as they previously did before the downtime. However, we lost too much data to restore the map feasible. This means that the map has been reset and the economy has been reset. Do not despair for we have learnt from this experience and are prepared to battle the forces of the unknown with the power of contingency planning! We have implemented several new plugins, and have written many more changes to the software so that this will not happen again. Furthermore we have implemented new functionality that will improve your gameplay experience. Everyone is entitled to 1 free zone protection (aprox. 40x40 blocks maximum). This means that you will have a zone that cannot be touched by anyone other than yourself. Furthermore we have implemented many anti-griefing tools and anti-exploit automated features that will heighten the enjoyment that players will have competing within this entrepreneurial server. When you now do the "/done" command, you will be teleported to a random point within the entire map. This will also be automatically done when you die. This will allow you to explore the server and quickly travel to unpopulated areas so that you can build in the protection of your solitude. We are now also allowing two accounts per IP so that friends and family can play together on our wonderful server (this does not allow two accounts per 1 person).   6. I can make it so that you can change when you have PvP on and off, but not sure about limited PvP areas. It is hard to flag the entire world for no-pvp, with some areas pvp as it is not handled like that. PvP is either on or off by default, and then you change the map to a non-pvp zone afterwards by getting all chunks and flagging them.

  10. I will update it at the weekend. We use many custom features and plugins for the server, so it needs to be rewritten to work with the latest bukkit API.

  12. They are more resource intensive than normal blocks, but they are still usable. The ender dragon is much more resource intensive.
  13. Minecraft 1.2 - Release! We have now updated our Minecraft server to fully support Minecraft, version 1.2! With this update there have been some large changes. With 1.1 we implemented factions - something that a lot of people loved and a lot of people hated. We agreed to review the situation after a suitable amount of time, and then either stick with it, or do a reform. The primary reason for implementing factions was because we needed a urgent solution to the problems of HawkEye, and there was no feasible substitute. Now there is. So with 1.2 after much debate, we have decided to remove factions and return to a survival server! We have implemented a new plugin similar to HawkEye, but much more efficient. A more detailed list of changes follows: Factions removed - new anti-grief rollback system implemented. The 'Guest' rank has been renamed to 'Unregistered'. The Ender Dragon drops much more money. The Ender Dragon & Ghasts now do block damage. Chat formatting has been rewritten. New database format to optimise the server. The command '/money top' now works again and is updated every 5 minutes. A new creature loot system has been implemented. Citizens removed due to compatibility issues. Rewrote the vote plugin to be much less laggy and fix a few bugs. With version 1.2: Player vs. Player is only enabled within The Ender and The Nether. Griefing is not allowed. Donation ranks can get their regions protected again. There will be more in-game events. Furthermore, with 1.2 we opted for a full reset. This was to accommodate for the 'mess' created within 1.1 and to allow us to have a fresh start. It also allows us to have a more competitive economy and use the new features and optimisations implemented with version 1.2: All inventories reset. Map reset. Economy reset. New 1.2 map generated. New features, mobs and zones enabled. Much more stable and bug free server. Of course, bugs will happen with this update that we did not anticipate and we did not found/see previously. Please remain calm and be patient, and report and bugs found to us if not already reported.   17. This was fixed a day or two ago. There was a exploit created 3-4 days ago, that allowed people to login while you were logged in. It was fixed within seconds once found, but a few people suffered because of it. I wouldn't class it is hacking, merely exploiting a failure in our set-up.
