Halo is right on the part of the hosting. I have a server setup for hosting and it is soooo heavy on network usage and electric. My monthly bill in the summer is $300+ and $150+ in the winter. An easy thing to host would end up being websites and thats also tricky as there are so many other web hosts to compete with that you end up having to cut your prices down a lot to even get people interested in your company. Halo does a great job with CU and Michael does a great job as well. I have been following CU for a while now and have seen the progress they have made and they don't stop for anything.

Here is my opinion on the ban, I do not honestly care if you return or if you don't get to. You caused a lot of damage and destroyed friendships and even divided the community, we let you back despite the fact I had pretty much permanently banned you, afterwards you attacked halo and made a fool of yourself. If your done being toxic, done causing drama, and done overall being a troll then the team can make a decision to let you back.  I do believe in chances. But it's up to the team when you get it considering the severity of the situation.

Something that has sort of been an experiment of sorts for a while is now finally being released to the public - CU's Beta 1.7.3 server!
 
"Do what? A beta 1.7.3 server? Y tho" - You see, for so long, I have seen many of these Beta 1.7.3 servers pop up for a bit, then a month or two later, they are gone - never to be seen again. I discussed this on a recent livestream, but allow me to reiterate some of my thinking here.
 
What I think happens is that when someone creates one of these servers, it is all done out of sheer nostalgic feelings - feelings that don't last. They whip something up quickly on their home PC, post an IP on MinecraftForums or PMC, and play for a bit until they get bored or tired of doing it, and then bam. That's the end of it.
 
I have opted to bring this server to life to counter that, and to give those seeking some nostalgia a place to go. As time goes forward, and as our main server expands and grows, this server will continue to be left as it is for those times when someone just wants to play old MC online. Even if that time is short, we will be here for that brief period.
 
 
Enough banter, what's the server like?
 
The server, being on an older MC version, is a fairly simple server. It is aimed to recreate the old days of MC survival in its purest form. There are some enhancements, however. ChestShop and an Economy system are in place to add just a little bit of spiff to the experience.
 
In addition, there are several ranks on the server. Member, Advanced, and VIP. You can find out more about those ranks and the staff ranks here.
 
How can I join?
 
You can join the server by going into the launcher, setting your game version to old-beta 1.7.3, and connecting to mc.chaoticunited.net:25566
 
 
CU Launcher
 
That's right folks! We have developed our own in-house cracked launcher. It is fully capable as a Minecraft launcher, but there are a couple things you should know.
Premium authentication is not currently supported Using this launcher will clear your existing login data in the official launcher. Again - do not use this launcher if you are Premium.  
These are all things that we plan to fix for the official release. As the topic title suggests, this is an open beta test. There may be bugs and other issues. If you find any issues, report them to us immediately.

We have a fairly large announcement to make!
 
Since September 2014, we have had our eyes on a prize. We have been after this particular thing since day one.
 
And today, it is finally ours.
 
We officially own chaoticunited.com. At the moment, the website domain redirects to chaoticunited.net, mc.chaoticunited.com points to our MC server, and ts.chaoticunited.com points to our TeamSpeak (yes, we still have a TeamSpeak).
 
For those of you who are new aboard the CU train, let me explain the significance of this domain name. The old CU ran on this domain from 2011 to 2013, and it was used by HurricaneCraft in 2014. Since the old CU shut down, the domain was in the hands of either Killerteddy, the former owner of CU, or perhaps one of its higher admins such as Spencer. We really never found out. But a few months ago, the domain changed hands. It was in the hands of a domain reseller called New Ventures Services. We had a run-in with them in the past as they had the domain tidalwavegaming.com for a good while until a couple years later when the domain went from them onto many other domain resellers and eventually expired. By that point, I was able to reacquire it.
 
The beloved chaoticunited.com was a different story. Unlike TWG.com, it had a long history of having massive amounts of traffic for years. TidalWaveGaming did not get anywhere near as big and thus is why it was dropped - as nobody was going to pay $1300 dollars for a domain with next to no traffic. CU.com had tons of traffic and due to the domain's shaky status of going in and out of availability, we jumped on the opportunity and obtained the domain.
 
For the foreseeable future, we will continue to have our site on chaoticunited.net as we have spent the past three years building the new CU on this new domain. We may migrate everything back to .com, or we may not. At this point we have not decided what exactly to do with it - although we have a couple ideas. Overall, we don't want to throw the domain to the side and leave it as a redirect forever, but we also don't want to do that to CU.net which has housed CU since the revival started. What we end up doing is yet to be seen, but for right now, we did it.
 
This is truly a milestone in CU history - one of the biggest ones we could hope to achieve. Moving forward, there is now no other milestone next besides growing the community - and that is what we plan to do.
 
We have a lot of plans behind the scenes for a relaunch of CU as we stated before. And now, with this domain, that relaunch is going to be more epic than ever.

It will provide a way for our members to earn the ranks without having to get them through donating which is a win win senerio if you ask me becaus we grow bigger, you guys gain more perms with a cool amazing title to make others jelous with, as we grow it provides more people more opportunity to make more friends as they go. So, some things have gone down here Chaotic United that has led to a new group called Elaztek Studios coming up to fruition.
 
Over the past few months on CU since Aly was demoted, I was sitting around miserable due to the loss of my friend, Alycat. Today I had a weak moment again and I wanted to bring my friend back. I was talking with Michael regarding it and he later spoke to Wind. Wind ended up quitting CU outright and is back on WindFrontier. At that point, Michael and I had little faith in the future of CU due to Wind leaving.
 
Eventually, it came to a point where Michael and I were considering rebranding CU under the Elaztek name and CU would effectively die off, but I came up with a different plan.
 
Aly has returned to Chaotic United and is once again my friend. CU may or may not continue to move forward but I will retain a hefty level of control over it - as in, Aly isn't coming in and totally taking over. I will continue to have a fair amount of involvement here at Chaotic United, however I will also be doing a great deal of stuff over at Elaztek. The MC server will continue the path it is right now and we will continue to expand it as we have been.

I am glad you made yourself at home thats my goal for each and every player that joins; to provide them the experience that drove me and haloman30 here today. I will be brainstorming on more ideas.

Just thought I'd let you guys you know our plans for 1.12.
 
You may recall last year when we did our official relaunch. The original plan for this was to rebuild our MC server from the ground up and, well, re-launch.
 
The major problem in the way that was executed is that at the time we had one physical server to work with and that was it. As a result, the MC server was inaccessible to normal users and thus a lot of potential traffic was simply lost. During a large portion of the time, myself and many other staff members were effectively "on break", mine of which was pulled to a screeching halt when I learned that Nuclear District planned to close. After that fact, we wanted to just get MC back online, and thus, no real major changes were made and we merely had the same server with a fresh coat of paint.
 
Nowadays, however, we are not in this position. I have a personal server of mine that nowadays is used for testing out CU servers. Most of the things detailed in CU Updates #17 will make their debut on 1.12. This time around, we are going to do a real relaunch. And this time, there is no pressure on us to rush everything just to get a server up. We can take as much time as we need without making you guys be unable to have anything to play. Some of the work for 1.12 has already been done, actually. Mostly in regards to spawns and builds.
 
So far, we have gotten a handful of additions suggested by you guys for Brink of Chaos mods. But now, I want to ask you guys what you want to see on our vanilla server. Any particular features or plugins or gamemodes you'd like to see on the next iteration of Chaotic United Minecraft, just as before, send me or any other staff a message, be it public or private, with your suggestion. If it is feasible and everything is compatible, then you can expect to see it make an appearance. Just know that due to our still limited resources, that we can't add literally every mode ever created (yet), and thus the most popular suggestions will be prioritized (this mostly applies to gamemodes. If you just have a simple addition to the server or a specific mode, this isn't as much of an issue).

Super siked for this coming update! I love the idea of a modded mc server and I will definitely check it out. Although the CU un-modded server will still be the home of most of my game play. Ever since I joined I have been wondering why such a wonderfully made server doesn't have more players, but I still enjoyed CU anyways because when people did come on they were someone to talk to. 
Maybe a pixelmon mod pack? That may be too intensive though.
Those new games on the CU server seem very cool, I have not heard of much and I have been playing minigames for a long time now. Can't wait to try it out!

There is one last thing Id like to add. The reason wind wanted me demoted allllll started RIGHT HERE   I merly like I said, told him I may have concerns and would discuss it with haloman30, where halo soothed my worries. Instead of being happy he got his way, he pulled out. Later on that month haloman30 messaged him about a re-merge, where wind layed down the terms that he would should I be demoted.
