  1. Alrighty folks - the wait is over. Those of you who've been craving a Modded MC experience have to wait no longer - Age of Rebirth is here. We've got some big plans for the modpack as time goes on, however for this initial release we're focused on getting something comparable to a less-buggy Brink of Chaos available. Most of our ideas include more story-driven/RPG elements, but not much of this exists except for some structures here and there - and the actual premise of the modpack. You may (or may not) be wondering, how does Survival Minecraft fit into any sort of tangible or believable plot or world? Well, the answer is this: That is the description of the modpack on Technic, as well as on the modpack webpage. Several aspects of the modpack have been designed to help "sell" this premise - as you'll discover through playing. A handful of hand-made structures are placed around (with more to pop up here and there), but a number of natural structures have also been introduced - the details of which I'll let you discover on your own. There has been a fair bit of testing done, albeit this was earlier in the year. Even so, some bugs are expected here and there. If you find any new bugs, you can submit any bug reports in the Age of Rebirth section in the bug tracker. Installing the modpack is the same process as Brink of Chaos. If you need additional help installing the pack, just CLICK HERE for an installation guide. The rest of the topic will be spent on going into some of the new additions to the modpack. If you'd like to avoid spoilers, then feel free to stop reading here and go play the pack. New Features Spawn - Finally! An actual spawn! I know! Crazy to think about! It's nothing too crazy, but it's a drastic improvement compared to past spawns if you ask me. Granted, that doesn't exactly say much - but hey. Gotta start somewhere right? The main goal was to build something that properly takes advantage of modded blocks. Flans Mod - An actual wide array of weapons and vehicles! The old Brink of Chaos modpack had a "wide range of weaponry", according to the old webpage for it. Well, Age of Rebirth actually has a lot of weaponry. And vehicles. Aircraft tends to be buggy so I'd advise avoiding those, but land vehicles and handheld weapons work just fine. + Added Immersion A couple mods have been added to help increase immersion. Dynamic Surroundings adds additional sound effects such as environmental sounds, as well as footstep sounds. Fancy Block Particles makes all particles 3D instead of 2D. Most recently, we've added Real First Person 2 - which makes it so that you aren't just a floating camera in first person. Rather, you're a full person with legs, arms, and a body. It has several different modes and you can cycle through them with F1 - one of which turns it off, if you aren't a fan of it. Other New Mods Along with the highlights above, a number of other mods have been introduced, including but not limited to: Advanced Chimneys Catwalks Compact Machines Doomlike Dungeons Food Expansion Iron Backpacks MCFrames Modular Powersuits ReAuth Recurrent Complex RFTools Roguelike Dungeons Ropes Plus Tinker's Mechworks Waystones WorldEdit CUI Other Additions/Changes Custom logo/colors during Forge initialization New font used throughout the modpack New hotbar/UI design (can be disabled using a built-in resource pack) DefaultKeys mod added, which means that config options and keybindings won't get reset with each update Ding mod added to play a little "ding" when the modpack is fully booted New main menu music ITLT mod added which allows for a custom application icon and window title Bugfixes! Some of the following major issues have been fixed: Laser mod no longer mass spams console when using reflector blocks DIMENSION PORTALS WORK PROPERLY AND PERFECTLY FINALLY, NO MORE HAVING TO WARP TO DIMENSIONS Skins no longer break down and display incorrectly when switching between worlds OpenBlocks elevators now place the proper color (not craftable yet, coming soon) A couple other help topics have been posted and pinned in the Age of Rebirth subforum as well feel free to give those a look-over. Otherwise, just boot up the modpack and have fun!

  3. Hey, everyone! Remember that poll we did a few days ago? Well, taking the poll into account, we've made our decision and CU is now introducing a brand new server - a Semi-Vanilla server! sv.chaoticunited.net So, what is this server exactly? This server is the pure Minecraft experience. There is an economy system in place, as well as grief protection, and other basics. There is going to be a single donation rank - VIP, for the same price as the main server's VIP rank: 10 dollars. We will also be having time based ranking make a return as well - more details on that later. There is no McMMO, Jobs, or anything of the sort - it's essentially the core MC experience as it was designed. Additionally, there are NO donation ranks that feature things like /item, /gamemode, or /fly or any other such perks. The perks for VIP will be as follows: Semi-Vanilla VIP Perks List The goal of the server is to create an experience where all players are equal, a fair playing field. Along with this server's implementation, we've introduced BungeeCord again (and a hub that may look familiar to some of you who were around in 2016). The main purpose of implementing BungeeCord is to advertise this server separately from the main MC server. Now, this may not end up sticking and we may end up migrating the server into the multiworld setup with the main server, it just depends how things go. Until then, the servers will be isolated and you can switch between them by doing /hub, /main, and /sv. What does this mean for the main server? Nothing! All the ranks and their perks are remaining the same. In fact, we have lifted the restriction on /item - which means you can spawn to your hearts content again! The main server will continue to be our primary focus, and will receive the most attention as always. Even so, for any players looking to try a more pure Minecraft experience (or just wanting to play uninterrupted survival with your friends), we encourage you to give our new server a whirl! Bungeecord? Yes! You can connect to either server straight from the other. There is no cross server chat or message capability at this time due to several issues that we found while doing so, including problems with Discord integration as well as other problems that took more away from the experience than anything. There will be a portal in the main server hub to the left of the Survival portal that will take you to Semi-Vanilla, and the hub server will have portals that lead to both servers. Additionally, forced hosts have been setup which will allow you to connect to any server via IP. The primary IP, mc.chaoticunited.net or mc.chaoticunited.com will take you to the main server, hub.chaoticunited.net will take you to Network Hub, and sv.chaoticunited.net will take you to the Semi-Vanilla server. Why all this? Why not just make the existing Survival mode be like this instead? A few reasons. The biggest reason is previous donators - several people have donated specifically for the advantageous perks like flying, itemspawn, and so on. Taking these perks away is, in our eyes, the same as basically stealing. People paid for their abilities and they deserve to keep them. Additionally, we felt that doing it this way would be better suited on its own server in order to bring in people who, say, don't want to be in a giant server with tons of stuff - but just want pure Survival. This gives people a way to get introduced to the community and eventually explore the other server on its own. What about advertising? Not much to say yet, but I am likely going to end up with a job by the end of the month - which could open a few doors. Can't wait to see you guys on the server! We hope you guys love it, and we're excited for the ever brighter future of CU!
  4. Hey everyone! We are making some progress with the MC relaunch and we want to share it with you thus far. So far, most of the work completed has to do with SurvivalGames and Arena builds. Without giving away too much, here is the latest map that has been completed - Corrupsula. This map has been in the works for months. It was started by Arlem/Windwhistle as a SG map that I wanted him to build. He got the center isle built but ultimately the rest came down to CU's build team. Have a look: More screenshots We have more maps, but we don't want to reveal everything do we? Gotta have something to discover! Additionally, we have two new staff members! @Nish and @rookie_11! Both are helpers, give them a warm welcome to the CU Staff team! We are still continuing to have open positions for staff to compensate for some of our staff going off to college as well as people being slammed with schoolwork. Hit the button below if you want to apply! Apply for a Staff Position If you have any questions or concerns, or anything else to say regarding the future of CU, feel free to speak up! We love hearing from and talking to you guys and getting your view on things.
  5. Hey guys, just figured I would bring something up to you guys. For a while, we were planning on having an RPG mode for the relaunch. The idea being that it would be an experience made to be fun with, or without anyone else online. A few weeks back, we made the decision internally to push that mode off from the relaunch and slate it as something to develop post-relaunch, as such a major project would hold up the other developments which, while they will take time, will take nowhere near the time and effort needed to build an RPG world, plugins, quests, and so on. We have changed our plans once again. The original idea for the "vanilla" RPG server, along with all the lore and whatnot associated with it has been put on hiatus in favor of a much different RPG mode. The biggest difference is that this mode is being build on modded MC. I talked with a few staff about this and the thinking behind this is that it allows for a significant amount more flexibility than could ever be hoped for with plugins. With modded, we could literally hire voice actors and record real dialogue for characters during story missions (something we may or may not look into, don't hold your breath). So far, here is what I can say about this new RPG server: It, much like the previous idea, NOT be focused on standard Minecraft building and general survival gameplay It will feature quests, unlockables, and other things of the sort It, unlike the previous idea, be Sci-Fi focused rather than medieval focused It will feature brand new blocks, items, UI, and so much more I am bringing this up because I am curious to see what you guys think about this decision. As should be obvious by this point and the way things in the past have taken a 180 in the matter of a few seconds, nothing is set in stone. I am aware that by making RPG a modded-only thing, we take a significant hit to the potential player gains - both due to weak player computers as well as the much taller barrier to entry. As easy as Technic is, there are people who just won't bother putting in the time. We plan to have a healthy marketing scheme this time around as well as some promotional material and whatnot to entice players, but it won't be as much as if it was vanilla. The simple fact is there is a lot that can't be done with plugins alone. You can sort of do things, sure. You can put stained glass panes in a fake chest, all renamed to text of some sort to represent a button. This is probably the most boring and weakest example ever, but that's a simple thing you can't do on vanilla. 3D gun models? Nope, not happening. Advanced quests with waypoints and so on? If only. Custom blocks and textures alongside vanilla blocks? LOL no. That being said, this is why I said earlier that the previous RPG server has been put on hiatus. It is NOT being cancelled. All of its lore, backstory, and existing builds that have been set for it will remain on the side until the day comes that we may or may not need them. In the offchance that the old idea never gets revisited and this new project is a truly groundbreaking hit, we do plan to have these set in the same sort of universe - just in much different time periods. As such, some builds from that may be utilized in some form or fashion on the new RPG mode. But I digress, none of this is truly final. You know what that means - poll time (again)! In the poll attached, just tell me: would you prefer a modded or vanilla RPG? Medieval or Sci-Fi? Or if you have anything else to say, or maybe even some ideas, feel free to reply! Have a good day everyone!
  6. Hey everyone! Some exciting new developments have been happening today! We once again have a dedicated server. You guys may remember a while back we had a 32GB Dedi from OVH - that was dropped due to the steep pricing that we simply couldn't afford. However, with our expanding services and our desire to make a bigger, broader, and more epic Minecraft experience, the time has come once again to bring a dedi into the picture. It isn't as grand as the old one, but still is going to spell huge improvements as this server boasts 16GB of memory - more than sufficient for the MC server as well as leaving plenty of room for expansion. That means no more random crashes every time some players get on, and no more running out of memory all the time. Additionally, you guys may recall several instances where MC had to be abruptly taken down in the past and certain stats (namely Time-based ranking) got reset every single time (though was restored thanks to backups). That was all due to the fact that our VPS had only 40GB of disk space. Unfortunately, the MC server was really pushing it on resources as was evidenced by the several periods of time where the VPS just ran out of space. This also is what caused the recent reinstallation of the VPS last week as we believe it was this progressive running out of space that caused several system packages to just stop working. This ultimately resulted in the reinstall you saw not too long ago. Well, this will no longer be an issue, as the Dedi that powers MC has a hefty 2TB of space - WAY more than enough for MC. The server has already been migrated and is up right now. But wait! What about the VPS? Good question - it isn't going anywhere. In fact, this isn't just upgrade day for the main MC server, but the Beta 1.7.3 server as well. The server now has been given 4GB of RAM allocated to it since it no longer needs to share resources with the main server. Along with that, it has been given port 25565 and has its own IP as of now: b173.chaoticunited.net. Additionally, all Discord bots will continue to remain on the VPS and will have plenty of wiggle room. Soon, the old MC files will be downloaded and removed from the VPS to clear out the space for other potential smaller/lighter services in the future. Our plan is to let MC have that 16GB all to itself. Moving forward, you should see major improvements in stability on all our services. This was a necessary change that probably should have happened a long time ago. But hey, better late than never, right? :^) Lastly, I want to thank Michael/AwakenedRage/Kryptoaware for solely paying for this Dedicated server out of his own pocket. Give him some love! Have a good day everyone, and happy crafting on our new and improved infrastructure!
  7. Hey everyone! Something that has sort of been an experiment of sorts for a while is now finally being released to the public - CU's Beta 1.7.3 server! "Do what? A beta 1.7.3 server? Y tho" - You see, for so long, I have seen many of these Beta 1.7.3 servers pop up for a bit, then a month or two later, they are gone - never to be seen again. I discussed this on a recent livestream, but allow me to reiterate some of my thinking here. What I think happens is that when someone creates one of these servers, it is all done out of sheer nostalgic feelings - feelings that don't last. They whip something up quickly on their home PC, post an IP on MinecraftForums or PMC, and play for a bit until they get bored or tired of doing it, and then bam. That's the end of it. I have opted to bring this server to life to counter that, and to give those seeking some nostalgia a place to go. As time goes forward, and as our main server expands and grows, this server will continue to be left as it is for those times when someone just wants to play old MC online. Even if that time is short, we will be here for that brief period. Enough banter, what's the server like? The server, being on an older MC version, is a fairly simple server. It is aimed to recreate the old days of MC survival in its purest form. There are some enhancements, however. ChestShop and an Economy system are in place to add just a little bit of spiff to the experience. In addition, there are several ranks on the server. Member, Advanced, and VIP. You can find out more about those ranks and the staff ranks here. How can I join? You can join the server by going into the launcher, setting your game version to old-beta 1.7.3, and connecting to mc.chaoticunited.net:25566 CU Launcher That's right folks! We have developed our own in-house cracked launcher. It is fully capable as a Minecraft launcher, but there are a couple things you should know. Premium authentication is not currently supported Using this launcher will clear your existing login data in the official launcher. Again - do not use this launcher if you are Premium. These are all things that we plan to fix for the official release. As the topic title suggests, this is an open beta test. There may be bugs and other issues. If you find any issues, report them to us immediately. You can grab the launcher here:
  8. The time has come for Modded MC to return to Chaotic United! Once again, we are utilizing the Brink of Chaos Modpack - but this time around, we have included various mods suggested by YOU - the CU Community! The Modded MC Subforum has been added (and contains topics from FTB Trident, Horizons, and old BOC) and has a couple new topics added - an up-to-date list of all the mods installed, and a topic to help those unfamiliar with the Technic Launcher to get up and running. In terms of resources, you are going to need at least 4GB of RAM on your PC and a decent CPU. RAM is the biggest thing you need. If you know how Technic works, just set your memory to 4GB (or 3.5GB if you only have 4GB in your PC, or more if you have it). If you aren't entirely sure how to do this, check out this handy topic. For a full list of mods, check this other topic. As you can also see, we have a new and improved logo design for the Modpack as well! It is made to better fit what the pack overall has - technology, creativity, and weaponry. Our server actually HAS a spawn now, which is a considerable step up from the server that we tried to do before which really never had one. This modpack has been in the works since earlier this year, you may even recall BlarFlargen mention hosting it in the past. Now, the server is hosted by AwakenedRage/Kryptoaware, who while is not present on the CU Discord, still is involved in CU from the management side of things. Our server is live at mod.chaoticunited.net - but this is technically unimportant, because the Modpack ships with the server already on your server list! We hope you guys enjoy the new and improved Modded MC experience, and stay tuned as we have another server set to launch soon as well. A server really designed for a small niche audience, but something we want to bring to CU nonetheless. So, go on! Have fun!
  9. Short and sweet today folks! We are currently working on a modded MC server. Right now we are looking at four different modpacks. Just vote on which one you like best! FTB Trident: 104 Mods FTB Horizons: 131 Mods Tekkit Classic: 41 Brink of Chaos: 109 Mods
  10. We are currently in a bit of a predicament. Mojang has changed its EULA a while back to basically disallow servers from having Pay-to-Win setups. We are technically infringing upon those guidelines with our selling of ranks. The consequences of being caught will end with our server being blacklisted and no player will be able to connect, without a modified MC launcher. Right now we are wanting to maximize our potential influx of players and requiring a modded launcher will definitely not help matters. There have been internal discussions, and we are divided between obeying to not risk it at all, or going against because we most likely won't get caught to begin with. Whether or not we will get caught is up in the air, but what is certain is that if we ARE caught, we WILL be blacklisted. The part of the EULA that pertains to us: This basically means that stuff like /fly, /god, /item and a ton more will be cut from the ranks - and that existing donors will lose it too. Depending on the outcome of this poll, we will be having future polls to determine the most painless way of moving forward. Vote away, my friends!
  11. Hello members of Chaotic United! If you have been with us recently (before ND closed down) you know that we took our MC server offline to do some work, as seen by this post. We didn't say a whole lot as to what was being done to the server. Today, Chaotic United is officially relaunching! Let's get right into the updates. Website The website has seen a good number of changes recently. First of all, there is a new theme selector. We have done some minor edits and facelifts to the old visual styles to bring them more up to date and make it feel more like Chaotic United. In addition to that, we have a theme designed to replicate the visual appearance of Nuclear District's website. For those that prefer the older and somewhat broken themes, they are available under a tab titled 'Classic Themes'. The old theme options are also still available, however due to the way they tend to cause noticeable visual errors they have been moved into a legacy tab. You can still poke with them if you desire but please keep in mind that the website from here on out will not be designed with those options in mind (and frankly have never been designed with them in mind to begin with). In addition to the look and feel of the site, we have some new pages! First off, the Forums tab has been renamed to 'Community' and is now a dropdown. Within it is the old forums link and a new Twitch Feeds page, also inspired by Nuclear District's website. Any Twitch streams that you guys post in the Streams forum that are continuously active, or any Streams we think you should take a look at will be added to that page. Additionally we have an About page that serves as a basic information page and also replaces the old Staff pages. The old staff pages have been moved into a 'Legacy' tab for those who wish to view them, however they will no longer be updated. With a similar layout and design, a Veterans page has been added that memorializes old legends of CU and the staff at ND. Lastly, a new Credits page has been added that has various credits of all the people or groups that had a hand in CU's history, as well as people who have contributed to the current iteration of CU Minecraft.. Minecraft The MC server is of course the main reason you guys are here. Let's get right into it. The most immediate change is that we have finally updated past 1.8! We are officially on 1.10! One bug that has been noted, you should not use 1.10.2 (1.10.1 is untested) as it causes a bug with our anti-cheat plugin and walking on certain blocks will cause it to think you are no-clipping. To prevent the bug, please use base 1.10. In terms of gamemodes, we are launching with Creative, Survival, and SkyBlock. We have a PvP focused gamemode in the works, but we decided to work with it post-launch as to get the server online sooner rather than later. Every single world has been given a brand new spawn. Some things are inspired from past creations, but this time around the builds themselves are brand new. For quite some time, we have been reusing pieces of old spawns or entire old spawns with some sloppy worldedit block filters. Ultimately, it was kind of neat and nostalgic at the same time, but for this relaunch we really wanted to give CU a fresh start, a clean slate from the mess of a server that existed in 2014-2015. Introducing: CraftBook! Some of you might not have a clue what this is. Those of you who do know what it is, are probably excited. It allows for a heap of new changes and tweaks to the game to expand it. Custom crafting recipes, gates, doors, bridges, and so much more. Some of the mechanics are only allowed in survival, and will show a 'You don't have permission to use this mechanic' message in other gametypes. As per before, we will continue to expand the MC server as time goes on and as new features are requested. Lastly, if you have yet to do so, you are invited to the Chaotic United discord server! If you are from ND or wish to keep in touch with original CU members that are not around anymore, check out NARA. Happy Minecrafting, The Chaotic United Team
  12. So, since the beginning of Chaotic United you have had only one way of getting higher in the ranks - donating. In fact you could go as far as to say they were less "Donation" and more "Purchasing". There were always a few people who didn't want to pay a hundred dollars for a fancy prefix and some kick-ass permissions. Well, that is all about to change. Introducing a new way to climb the ranks of Chaotic United, the Time-Based Ranking system! This new system can allow those with less money to spare a way to get shiny ranks. And let's be honest, playtime matters just as much as the dollars that fund us. Those dollars are useless without a playerbase online to show their love for the community. And, if you are one of those people who think that spawning items takes away all fun and enjoyment, don't worry. Once you've been on long enough, you don't rank up until you "claim" your rank. Please note you can still purchase ranks normally despite the implementation of this new system. Think of it like an alternative way to get the ranks. Currently, the only limitation is that you can only go up to Benefactor, due to the fact that Supporter and Chaotic have WorldEdit. This could change in the future at some point. Also, if you earn a rank, and wish to purchase one (say you reach Benefactor and want to go higher) you can contact either me or AwakenedRage and you will be able to buy a rank with the discounted price (the same as if you actually bought Benefactor). With this system, the Guest rank has been re-implemented. If you are a new member, you will need to be on the server for a few short minutes in order to become Member. Time towards a rank is based on time online, not time since you first joined. (ie, 12 hours per day for 2 days is 1 day towards a rank) You will not earn any time towards your rank if you are AFK. Rankup Requirements (Last updated 7/6/2015): You might notice that the amount of days is equal to the price. I figured that would make it pretty fair and equal. This feature has only now been implemented, so it may or may not work correctly. If you have any issues ranking up, please inform a Staff member. We have plenty more in the works, and we hope you enjoy this long-awaited feature to CU.
